new dishes!

Alright, so I'm pretty sure most of us know what it is like to be stuck in the same rutt of eating the same few foods over and over and over again.. Ugh
I just can't handle my regular items anymore.
Anyone want to post a couple good recipies? :)

As far as protein, try a nice lean cut of steak. I know a lot of people are picky about red meats, but I'm no pro so I can enjoy my food liberties ;)

So you'll need to marinate this sucker for about an hour minimum.
I like to get two pounds of NY Strip... two steaks, but I hear lots of good about "flat iron" cuts. I gotta try it.

So I take a quarter cup of dry red wine and mix it with 3 table spoons of extra virgin olive oil. I stir in about a teaspoon of salt and black pepper. After that I'll add in about two or three cloves of pressed garlic and a teaspoon of fresh thyme and a half teaspoon of chopped fresh rosemary.

Normally I slide the steaks (I make two at a time so cut the marinade in half if you only do one) into a big ziplock freezer bag and pour the marinade on top. I shake it around a bit and then I let it sit in the fridge for 30-45 minutes. After that I shake again and flip it to the other side and let it sit for another 30-45 minutes.

I typically grill them on my george foreman grill and there is very little runoff (if any) of grease.

These steaks are DELICIOUS. Especially medium rare (the only real way to eat steak).

what are you eating on a regular basis..not recipes just general descriptions? Most get into ruts b/c they like what is quick and easy. I personally love waldorf tuna, and I make my own chicken pot pie filling and eat it with just some bread. I make a turkey meatloaf with tons or fresh rosemary, pork chops covered in spanish olives and tons of garic. All of these take b/t 15 to 30 min to prepare-excluding the cooking time. I will post some recipes if there is anything here that you like just let me know what your culinary skills are.:)

sounds yummy Sportsclub please post recipies......

i have been alternating chicken breast , tuna , steaks , and grilled fish....... i would love to hear other healthy foods to rotate in....

thanks

I happen to be a great cook (grew up in my Italian grandmothers house) let us know what you like to eat and I can give you some recipes. I have translated a lot of her Italian food into mostly healthy dishes by eliminating the oils and frying and baking with cooking sprays and stuff like that. I have also incorporated oatmeal into many things (awesome in turkey meatloaf).
You may also want to get some rubs or spices to make your fish or chicken not so bland. I shop at Penzey spices for a lot of different things, they have really good high quality spices and rubs.

Well the pork chops are easy enough..make slits in chops and push in to them the spanish olives about 6 per chop. Mince a whole head of garlic for 4 chops and spread over chops. Liberally sprinkle oregano over top and Drizzle with olive oil. Broil for 10 minutes and then bake 350* 30 min or til done-depends on thickness of chops. Is perfect with sweet potate covered in cinnamon and a little butter and spinach.

1 tsp basil
1/4 tsp black pepper
Saute onion garlic and celery 5-10 min til soft. add broth and carrots bring to boil. Add rest of ingredients and simmer 30 min.

Made Turkey meat loaf last night, Yummy!

1 pack turkey chop meat (I use 99% lean)
1 cup Oatmeal
1/2 cup bread crumbs (low carb) - may add extra depending on constancy of the loaf
2 eggs or 3 egg whites
1/4 cup low fat Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup bullseye BBQ sauce

Mix together and let sit in a loaf pan for 10 minutes to get everything all happy together. Bake @ 350 for around 40 minutes (depends on your oven)

I never tried it with oatmeal..can you taste a huge difference with it? I'll have to try that next time..so much healthier than breadcrumbs.

I find that the oatmeal actually keeps it moister because as the juices flow the oatmeal absorbs them and keeps the meat moist and yummy. ( WOW! That sounded gay!!) But damn tasty!

Sometimes I throw a can of tuna in there also to add some protein. Not as fishy as you would think.
