Hello Meso,

Awesome forum. I’m very impressed with the amount of information here and the community of experienced members that are willing to help each other out, including guiding new guys like me.

A bit about me; I’m currently 41 years old, 6’4”, 210 lbs, BF is 15.7%. I’ve been into a variety of athletics my whole life; hockey, football, baseball, and D1 basketball in college. Post collegiate I’ve always stayed active in men’s league sports, but never lifted. During all of this time, my physique and weight remained very much the same. I was long and lean at 6’4” and 195 lbs, and looked defined and athletic. However, upon turning 40 I began to notice a change. My energy levels dipped and I began to see my body getting a bit ‘soft’ looking, although my weight remained the same at 195. I didn’t like how this looked or felt, so in November 2015 I committed myself to a clean diet, cut out all crap, cut out alcohol, and built a gallon of water per day into my regiment. I also joined a gym and started lifting. Again, I had never lifted so I was like a fish out of water at first, but I stuck with it and really have found it to be addictive. I f*cking love going to the gym.

Since starting in November I’m now up to 210 and I can visibly see the gains and have tightened things up again. I’ve never been this heavy before, but I gotta say I really feel good at this size… And at 6’4” it’s not like I’m huge at 210, but I could never be referred to as skinny either. The thing is, now I’m wondering how I’d look and feel at 220… 230.

I’ve now set a goal to reach 220. I’m going to see if getting there naturally is possible. The first 15 pounds came on quite fast to my surprise. I gotta think this will slow down at some point soon.

Overall, I’m not very strong in the gym. Not sure if it’s attributable to my age, my long limbs, having never lifted before, or a combination of things. Up until now I’ve just been getting comfortable in the gym, learning the equipment and getting my form right. But at this point I’m going to try and focus on increasing my strength so that my gains don’t stall. We’ll see how it goes, but I’m very curious about doing a cycle if I do plateau before I reach my goal. The other thing is that my energy levels still aren’t great. I’m getting some bloodwork done to see if it reveals anything.

Anyhow, I’m looking forward to the journey of getting to 220. If I do end up going down the AAS path to get there, it’s really great knowing that you guys are there to help along the way.

Let me know what you guys think.

All the best.

Welcome to meso man. Solid intro. Good idea with the bloodwork. Great place to start. There's a lot of info here to learn from while you figure out if it's the path for you or not.

Although I am relatively new myself, I would like to welcome you. I enjoy reading and learning from guys who are experienced and been in the game for a while. I did my first cycle last year at the age of 35. Consisted of testosterone only but was blown away how much stronger and bigger I became in a short time. Since then I had my bloods checked and found out I had a low test count. I am on doctor prescribed TRT and have really enjoyed it during the last 6 weeks.
Sorry to give you my story but without this board I don't think I would be as confident with the choices I have decided to make. Good luck!

Welcome to Meso. Good place to read, read, read, and read some more. Sounds like you are making good progress. Keep pushing forward. As stated good idea to get some blood work. I didn't even think about low T or anything like that being as I just turned 30 but reading around here was enough for me to ask the dr to check it and low and behold.... Anyway hope you find lots of good info here and help to reach your goals!

Thanks man. No apologies necessary. I really appreciate your info., being that we are of similar age. If you don't mind me asking, what was your test count?

Thanks Do3Gs. I'm gonna keep on pushing. Just surprised that my energy levels didn't pick-up after everything I've done to date. I had my blood tested a week or so ago but haven't heard anything back from my doc... Likely because everything is "in range". However from what I've read so far, you can be in the theoretical range but if you're on the low end of testosterone it can affect some people pretty badly. I'm calling my doc to get the actual results from her. I want to know exactly what my levels are.

Yes, my first test was like 50 points above the bottom of the range and free test was well below normal and I felt exhausted and drained around noon each day. I had to call and have the office print me out a copy to see where it was. 4 months later she ordered tests again and I was below the bottom and free was even lower. She said 2 low tests would justify to the insurance to start TRT. I'm feeling a little better 6 weeks in. Don't convince yourself all your problems are from low T tho and make sure you try and find other contributing factors.

Test count was 300. I am going to get it tested again on the 18th. I have been shooting 200 mg every 15 days for almost 2 months. Have you figured out what your count was at?

Ok thanks for the details. It'll be interesting to see your results following your test on the 18th. At 300, how were you feeling? Did you have any of the typical symptoms of Low T? I mentioned in an earlier post above that my blood test was taken but I never heard back from my doc. I'm going to follow-up tomorrow to get my actual results, regardless of if they think they are "within range". I want to see my numbers and go from there.

Hey Prospect. Thanks again for your reply. I contacted my doc on Friday and had her send me a copy of my bloodwork. My test level measured 366. From what I've read so far, that's not great and it may explain some of my low energy/stamina. My test level apparently falls within the medically acceptable range, but I'd welcome your perspective or anyone here on Meso that can offer their perspective. Thanks.

Depending on what scale you use at 366 you are on the low end of T count. I know some doctors won't prescribe TRT at that number but many will. My buddies Dr keeps him around 900-1100 which is at the upper end of the spectrum. I told my Dr I had all the symptoms of low T and he agreed to do TRT. I test next Monday and hope I still test low because I think 200 mg every 15 days is too long of a gap for me personally.
Although this is not an illegal cycle and I am only using test, my strength and size have made a boost from the 4 injections I have so far taken. If it's something you want to do you might have to chat with other locals and find a Dr who isn't afraid of TRT and who will get you on the upper end of the Test scale and not the lower end.

Thanks again for the info. I'm going to discuss with my doc, convey my symptoms to her and let her explain why TRT is or isn't right for me in her opinion. We'll see how it goes. I'd love to hear how your next bloodwork looks and what the low dose has done to your level. Awesome that you're feeling and seeing a difference at that low dose.

Peteski- hey buddy I told u I would let I know my next blood count. Had it checked yesterday. It had been 12 days since my last 200 mg injection. Tested at 260. Was below my natty level of 300. My Dr agreed to move my injections from every 15 days to every 7. I'm pretty stoked because I think it will give me more energy and strength will skyrocket. How have things been and did I decide to go the TRT route?

Hey Prospect - That's good news that your doc will be upping the frequency. You will surely feel significantly better and stronger. I wonder what your test levels will be at with 200mg injections every 7 days..? Personally, I did get my bloodwork back and test score was in the lower range at 366. But of course my doc is of the mind that it's "within the normal range" and therefore does not support the notion of TRT for me. Yet the more I read about test levels, it's no wonder I don't feel great at 366, despite my clean diet, cardio and weight training. I need to weigh my options of either seeking out another doc that has more experience with TRT or potentially find my own source to try it on my own... I'm still pumping away and enjoying my training, but just wish I felt better.
