Hello Meso,
Awesome forum. I’m very impressed with the amount of information here and the community of experienced members that are willing to help each other out, including guiding new guys like me.
A bit about me; I’m currently 41 years old, 6’4”, 210 lbs, BF is 15.7%. I’ve been into a variety of athletics my whole life; hockey, football, baseball, and D1 basketball in college. Post collegiate I’ve always stayed active in men’s league sports, but never lifted. During all of this time, my physique and weight remained very much the same. I was long and lean at 6’4” and 195 lbs, and looked defined and athletic. However, upon turning 40 I began to notice a change. My energy levels dipped and I began to see my body getting a bit ‘soft’ looking, although my weight remained the same at 195. I didn’t like how this looked or felt, so in November 2015 I committed myself to a clean diet, cut out all crap, cut out alcohol, and built a gallon of water per day into my regiment. I also joined a gym and started lifting. Again, I had never lifted so I was like a fish out of water at first, but I stuck with it and really have found it to be addictive. I f*cking love going to the gym.
Since starting in November I’m now up to 210 and I can visibly see the gains and have tightened things up again. I’ve never been this heavy before, but I gotta say I really feel good at this size… And at 6’4” it’s not like I’m huge at 210, but I could never be referred to as skinny either. The thing is, now I’m wondering how I’d look and feel at 220… 230.
I’ve now set a goal to reach 220. I’m going to see if getting there naturally is possible. The first 15 pounds came on quite fast to my surprise. I gotta think this will slow down at some point soon.
Overall, I’m not very strong in the gym. Not sure if it’s attributable to my age, my long limbs, having never lifted before, or a combination of things. Up until now I’ve just been getting comfortable in the gym, learning the equipment and getting my form right. But at this point I’m going to try and focus on increasing my strength so that my gains don’t stall. We’ll see how it goes, but I’m very curious about doing a cycle if I do plateau before I reach my goal. The other thing is that my energy levels still aren’t great. I’m getting some bloodwork done to see if it reveals anything.
Anyhow, I’m looking forward to the journey of getting to 220. If I do end up going down the AAS path to get there, it’s really great knowing that you guys are there to help along the way.
Let me know what you guys think.
All the best.
