Hi wanted to do a quick introduction of myself. Go by the name Jymis (Jim-iss). Started lifting on the regular again for the last 5 months and its done wonders for me. I'm a recovering alcoholic with 6 months sobriety and I can't tell you how getting in the gym and hitting the weights have helped keep me sober. Anyways I'm here to learn everything I can about lifting, programs, PH's and of course AAS as I am pretty sure I'll be dabbling in the dark side some where down the road.

welcome, alot of guys around here come from that same background
Keep going to the gym, never stop

Im a recovering Addict in NA...so welcome...just pour yourself into getting in shape and getting big...trust me once you start reaching a certain level in lifting and physical fitness..you wont want to jeopardize that with putting alcohol in your body...but just remember as and addict or alcoholic..like myself cravings still come...you gotta be agro with this shit and let it consume you...
my sponser didn't think it was the best idea pinning steroids since I use to pin dope intravenously lol

I just passed year three of my recovery. I can't say enough about replicating the hunter/ gatherer exhaustion through working out and how much it helps. It reduces anxiety and depression for me and a good healthy meal after the physical draining brings a natural, unparalleled, sense of ease and comfort. That ease and comfort we chase through substances could never truly be achieved. Training/ lifting will take you there . Not enough people take care of themselves once in recovery. My hat is off to you. See ya around

Lol. I dated a girl that would give me a hard time about drinking a diet coke from time to time. I sat her down and told her what is was like, to the best of my ability, to mainline a 1/4 of coke or crank after resting. Then I told her about the phantoms I'd chase and hide from on about day three through five. After my third felony I started drinking and did for 8 years. I only stopped when I was in jail. She didn't believe me and still made a fuss about diet cokes. lol So as long as it's not dishonest, mind or mood altering I say have at it.

Welcome! I've had alcohol problems in the past myself. Gym+boxing worked pretty well for me. Good luck man. Its a rough road

As far as info, this place is a goldmine if you use it properly. Read the stickies in every forum and search before you question. The longer the thread, the more important it is to read the whole thing.

Thanks for the welcome and the advice. I have started to see to see what lifting can do for cravings and just my overall mental wellness. Just seeing the positive changes in my body have had a profound affect on how I view drugs and alcohol.

Its great to know that I'm not alone even here on the forums. I agree about the reduction of depression and anxiety through lifting. Look forward to learning from everyone here.
