We have this new guy at our local gym. He's young, around 22-24. Joe has the worst form in the world. It is like nails on a chaulk board for me to watch his crappy technics. I have tried to befriend him and drop hints that it is quality not quantity. (Before the flames start, I know you have to have quantity as well as quality but he needs to know that if the quality of the lift isn't there, then the quantity won't do any good.) Joe just doesn't listen. Some of the personal trainers have come up to me and said that they think he is going to seriously hurt himself. Everybody is talking about it. I have asked everyone that has come to me about this to please back me up and say something to Joe. One trainer said that he would probably take it wrong from her and get mad having a woman try and tell a guy what to do. The other trainer said that he would help if the guy would hire him. It infuriates me that these people who are so experienced won't help this kid. If one of the trainers would just offer some advice it would probably help a lot. But no one wants to get involved. At my gym, there are 5-6 of us in our group. None of the others in our group want to offer help because everyone is into AAS and they're afraid he's undercover or something. I went up to Joe the other day when he was working on the cable pulls to try to help. His elbows were swinging back and forth at least a foot. AGGGHHHHH!!! After his last set I asked if he wanted to start working his triceps now. Figured I'd just be bold. I told him "it's quality, not quantity. I don't even use as much weight as you just used." (I'm three times his size). He laughed and said, "Yeah, I might be going a little too heavy. I benched 2 days ago and look." He lifted up his shirt and had probably thirty separate bruises along his lower chest where he'd bounced the bar during his bench press. Well anyway he went back to doing curls. Probably grabbed 45-50's and he's sitting there swinging worse than Heidi Fleiss at a the Playboy Mansion party. I just shook my head and walked away cause he's not listening.
Anyway, I'm not really looking for any answers but if anyone has any comments for suggestions I'd appreciate it. I had the good fortune to be around professionals when I was starting out but this kid seems to have no one. I'm sure others have seen some guy in their gym who's just wasting his time and money. I'm sust
blowing off steam, I guess.
