Novolin R - experience & timing

Has anyone got experience with Novolin R? I was planning to use 5 units to test it out PWO.

I understand that is has a long peak, and theoretically does that mean one bigger dose PWO is fine and the post-workout use isn't needed? The peak is around 2-4 hours in. I wanted to pin at 3:45, eat PWO carbs at 4:15, and train at 5-6. Anyone that has experience, I'd appreciate hearing about your experiences. TIA

Yeah i'd compare it to lantus almost, have used it quite a bit and got good results i would try and dose 2 hours pre workout (I did 50iu) while fasted keep in mind and would still wait 45-1hr before eating 1/3 the amount of carbs for the dose in my case around 150 and then another 1/3 intraworkout, and last third post workout. it spikes at around 2 hours and 4-6 hours.

I'm by no means an expert with slin but I took 8 units post workout while making dinner and went hypo almost immediately. BG was 32. I didn't pass out but started sweating profusely and the room was spinning. Immediately ate some fast carbs and recovered pretty quick.

My point is 50 units would have had me on the ground and you want someone to take it fasted and wait an hour? I don't think this is a safe recommendation.

by no means is my dose a recommendation but I was just explaining how novo R isn't like a analog insulin and is spread out throughout 12 hours so you can dose higher. What type of slin were you using?
