Old man coming off trt

Followed a lot of threads here and YouTube about pct and comming off and some guys make it sound very complicated and i suppose sometimes it is. Just wanted to add my experience to the data set
53 yo, 6 years on trt+ generally 150-250 test/wk but experimented with deca, primo and var on top. Labs and semen analysis showed i was completely shut down. used Nov of 2024 to tapper off with 100mg test/wk, 250iu HCG eod, 12.5mg enclomifene/day. Dec 1 stopped everything. Last week labs; TT 293, FSH/LH 2.8/2.9, today semen analysis normal.
Not 100% back to pre trt but good enough and faster than I expected.

Why you decided to come off at 53? 293ng would be miserable unless you're 80+ where just breathing could be miserable.

We have members here who were on gear in their 20's for 5-6 years and after PCT they couldn't recover. Consider yourself lucky, no one can predict if recover is going to be succesful or not. On the other hand, i would not consider optimal living with 290 test.

I'm not averse to trt or aas and I am not bragging about my 293. I am only adding my data to a topic that concerns a lot of guys at some point. I was going through a bad divorce and I needed to simply. I loved learning about all the drugs and planning protocols but when your head is not in it anymore I thinks it's best to step away from that stuff for a while.

Sorry to hear that but this is an extra reason not to come off. Having low T can aggravate depression and overall well being.

Doing 1-2 shots a week ain't that cumbersome. Doing cycles and following a bodybuilding lifestyle is a completely different thing from maintaining your test levels at a healthy range. This is just my opinion, i wish the best for you.

I'm sorry to hear about your personal predicament and I don't mean to pry, but why do you Think coming off trt at 53yo, being completely shut down will do anything except further complicate life?

Two reasons; 1 I was in an emotional sunami and I didn't want to think about whether anything I was swallowing or injecting was playing a role. 2 I hoped to start over with someone new and I wanted to be fertile and I didn't want to explain the needles and vials.
I still have a lifetime supply of test so I will jump back on if necessary.

Hope I’m wrong but I have a feeling you will be back. Probably within 6-8 months. You will inevitably tank on those T-levels if they stay there. That’s pretty low and will probably eventually catch up to you. Plus you will always know how good you can feel when the winter blues set in from low test. Nothing wrong with wanting to try it though. You’re a brave man.

meh ~300 is normal range (esp for age group prob very healthy normal)... obv won't keep as much muscle but if can get over 300 and 53 ur doin aight after so long on test and short time off of it...

amazing u got sperm back aswell! congrats! guess ur likely healthy lifestyle has helped!!!

I bet your test will be much better in 6 months.. if already got back to normal in a couple months.

let us know how it goes and don't worry about the haters.

At least you were smart enough to keep your options open. Fertility is a sensible reason, but otherwise, I find mediocre T levels lead to worse outcomes in every other area of life.

I'm going to be the only realistic asshole person here, but it's too late. Bringing a baby at your late 50s, it's selfish.
Why? If you're a good person and will be a good dad I see no problem. Complete pieces of shit have kids at a younger age, are terrible parents, and fuck there kids up. Age doesn't seem like a big factor to me until you get to maybe your late 60's or so. That Is as long as you're healthy, have the financial security and resources to do it properly, and are mentally prepared and in a spot in life that you can commit to doing it well.

It's only been a few months. Realistically you have to wait at least six but maybe up to 12 months to see where your body settles in. These Numbers simply show progress but are not showing the final result of coming off.

From a couple anecdotal reports i remember they were somewhat ok in the first few months and as time went by TT levels declined. Probably because all the effect of clomid/enclomiphene fade away.

On the other hand many guys had a succesful recovery without even doing a PCT, so who knows. Maybe he'll get better, maybe worse.

Best option IMO would be to freeze some sperm since he managed to get fertile again and then go back to TRT. Although this is another thing i'd like to discuss here but since it's a very delicate and personal matter i'll better abstain..

Interesting take. I always thought that the decision to have a child was selfless not selfish. Very demanding on your time attention and money.

The selfish part is you’re going to most likely die when they’re still young and leave them to face early adulthood entirely alone. Given recent trends on how long it takes kids to leave the nest after they turn 18 I suspect they won’t be mentally ready for that. I also tend to agree if you haven’t popped one out by mid 40s best to just call it a day.

Within one year most men recover back to pre TRT levels. Some do not and their levels are lower but most will recover. You're right that there is a study about PCT versus no PCT. Either route you go most will recover but it just takes time.
