1987 GT performer is what I had. Rode that bike till I was 17 yrs old. Little did I know trying to find that bike again would cost 2g's+ online, and that's IF you can even find one.

It's fucking scary now ain't it? I'm proud to say that I was the one who showed my son how to bunny hop his bike. And one night when I was drunk I took it off a wooden ramp he has, mind you this is a 20" bike and I look like an ape on it. I hit the ramp with an all or nothing attitude and actually landed it. One of those proud dad moments where I was like "aright, I still got it!"Went for a ride with the kids last weekend, I hadn't been on a BMX in probably 20 years
I rode a redline and a skyway for a long time. Was a major BMXer growing up. Did a couple races but mostly jumping and thrashing around the neighborhood.
I had the chromoly mongoose with blue anodized excel wheels. Damn thing weighed a ton.
I was jealous of all my friends that had better bikes like Torkers, GT’s PK Rippers, etc. The Mongoose was the turd of the bunch compared to the others.
It was all bunny hops and fishtails!
That was me. I was sporting a Freedom 1 from Wester freaking Auto. LMFAO. I tricked it out with some aftermarket stuff butWas a major BMXer growing up. Did a couple races but mostly jumping and thrashing around the neighborhood.

Wed also use boat ramps with make shift plywood ramps to launch in to the water to practice for our next friendly comp.
Now when i see a bmx its usually ridden by the neighborhood unemployed bum who has a known felony and likely a drug problem. Like clock work lol
Z-rims! Mate, just thinking about getting a pair of those gave me wet dreams back in the day! Then I got a pair & .... hmmm. Weighed a fucking tonne & if you kept the spokes loose for that cool flexy rim effect, the bastards could pop out! Absolutely bomb proof though when ran tight & soooo much more rad than Skyways mag-wheels!View attachment 124623 I don’t know if you guys remember the Hutch Trick star?
