Paying for women when you go out! How often?

Better tape your chin, too. ;)

Doh! Forgot about that.

Where is Rod.....im still trying to ascertain the humor in my post regarding the BRKb. I need for to be esplain Lucy.

Little over a year ago when I first was met my girl I was pulling in a real good chunk of change @ my co-op job, and used to pay for everything...now I'm done with my job, and back in school, and now she is working full time as a manager so she picks up tabs more often.
But now, until she moves to Beantown in August, she pays for everything when I visit her @ home, and I pay for her when she comes and sees me.
Very amicable, and we never discussed it, we just started doing it, and it works out well.

ok, little late here. St. Pattys day I went out with my cousin. He met a chic on the internet the night before. We were going to meet her and her friend at a bar.(the friend was supposedly cute  ) We get there and they are like "it's about time. We are thirsty" expecting us to buy their drinks. I just said go get yourself a drink than. When they left to get one we took off and went to a different bar. The friend was a f'n cow and I wasnt going to waste my night around her. Especially being stone sober at the time

I always pay for everything in the first few dates, but after a while, she has to show some interest in paying for something. I usually wont let her when she wants to pay, but I like it when a girl offers. I think it shows a lot of respect to me.

When in a serious relationship, I usually pay for food, going out, etc. She still has to pay HER bills like rent, electricity, etc. I give my girl cash when she needs help paying for things. I would say in a serious relationship, guys should pay for 75% of the dates, and the girl 25%. Also, if it is a special date on request of the guy or girl, the person that requested should pay.

Some girls do take advantage, my last girlfriend did. She didnt have a TV, so I bought her a $500 TV set. She broke up with me 3 days later (bought on Friday, broke up that Monday). I later learned that she gave that TV away to her new boyfriend a week later, because she doesnt watch TV anyways. So basically I bought some guy a $500 TV, and he just had to wait about a week to get it.

My current girlfriend is really good about paying for things. I let her borrow $300 for a ticket she got, and she now works 2 jobs trying to pay me back! I tell her she doesnt have to, but she insists! Plus, I can bang her anytime I want!

Hmmmm

That's odd, she only charges me $25.

I always pay for dates that i ask a woman out on, and usually will pay for things in the relationship too. But as Joe said some woman take advantage of that. The woman I am with now buys beer and wine and we spend time at her house...so I pay when we go out. Its not a big deal, and it shouldn't be a big deal. Just find a chick that is willing to contribute at least slightly with the money~Sensational

I kinda agree with you on this Sensational. But I think its ok to have a Sugar Mama. She pays for things, and you satisfy her. Its all about contributing.

I paid for everything until we started living together now we split most things but i still like to pay more then her.

LOL, gotta love the BRKb analogy!

Here is the most important part of a "History of Engagment Rings" article. The rest is pretty interesting, but this sums it up....

Throughout history, diamond engagement rings did enjoy popularity among those who were wealthy and those who were royalty. Many sources mention that Archduke Maximillian of Hamburg and Mary of Burgandy made the wearing of diamond engagement rings popular in 1477. It is highly doubtful that Maximillian and Mary started the trend of diamond engagement rings, though it is possible they started the trend among the wealthy or those who were royalty. After all, they were rather expensive and could not become common if the "common-folk" could not afford them. A true trend involves more than just a small section of the society and this is why I find the possibility highly doubtful. As a matter of fact, diamond engagement rings were not to become "traditional" until hundreds of years later.

The De Beers Consolidated Mines, Ltd. was created in 1888 in order to protect the investment of diamond mine investors. A new mine was discovered in South Africa in 1870. Since only a small amount of diamonds had been found prior to this, the discovery flooded the market and cut into the profits of investors. The De Beers Consolidated Mines, Ltd. was created in order to regain control of the supply of diamonds. After they gained control of the supply, they then needed to control the demand for diamonds.

This attempt began when Harry Oppenheimer (son of the De Beers founder) visited New York in order to meet with Gerold M. Lauck. Gerold was the president of N.W. Ayer, which was a leading advertising agency at the time. You see, diamond sales had declined since 1919 by 50%, and something had to be done to increase the demand for them.

The year of the advertising campaign was 1939. That's right, the tradition of diamonds as THE engagement ring...as the only correct option, started slightly over 60 years ago and was the main result of an advertising campaign. While the diamond did enjoy periods of popularity in times prior to this (Victorian era for example), this was the factor that made the diamond engagement ring the ONLY choice that was acceptable. You don't have to take my word for it though. Feel free to research on your own.

The reason that I decided to delve into the history of engagment rings is quite simple. I have a collection of old engagement and wedding photographs that range in age from the Victorian era to the 1940's. The majority of the photographs show no ring or a ring that is obviously not a diamond. In most cases, all that you see is a simple gold band with no stones on it. That's what actually inspired this article. I found it a bit odd that there were so few diamonds, so delved into researching the subject. This article shows the results, and I hope you've enjoyed reading it!

Bob,
that is a great post . I took this semester long course back when i was in school and it was all about the Debeers family and the control and pricing of the diamond trade. Man those are the facts. The stones are not rare the whole demand was created.
Ask a women why diamonds are so expensive, most of them don't know and don't care because they get this status symbol (that makes them happy)that they can show off to there dumb ass friends.
What the hell does the guy get in return?

I feel the tren rage coming on....aaaaaaaaa

Well if it makes them happy what the hell is the problem? Shit why the hell are people complaining about diamond prices? Can't fork out a couple hundred bucks a few times in your lifetime to make the person you love the most happy? Fuck, if this is true I would be worried about getting a new job not fucking diamond prices.

for a couple hundred bucks you can get her something nice from the machine in front of Walmart. the problem is it's a rock, and not even a rare rock at that, and people remortgage their house to buy a piece of earth which has no real tangible value other that that which is perceived. stupid concept. fuck that.

Crewboss you missed the point, first if you have to remortgage your house to purchase a diamond you might want to think about a career change and possibly move out of the treehouse in your parents backyard, second you don't need to spend that much money it's the principle not the price, and third the when I stated that a couple hundred bucks would be sufficient I was being facetious.

I agree. It is easy for dolfe to have his point of view when he is in love with a dude ;) . Women that expect an expensive ring need to be shown the door
