Pinched nerve?

I think I have a pinched nerve.
I have not seen a doctor yet but if it does not go away in a couple weeks I might.
Thought you guys might be able to help me out before I go that route.
I had to reference a photo to pinpoint my problem.
Seems like it's in the area of my Teres major or minor.

Right side lower rear shoulder blade area. The pain starts there and runs down my right arm and up my towards my neck.
Coupled with the INTENSE pumps from my cycle my arm is throbbing really bad and fingers are pins and needles and go numb.
Also getting muscle spasms in forearm and Teres/lat area.

Any ideas?

Man I ain't no Dr. But I have had a pinched nerve before and was told by doctor that sometimes they move and sometimes they don't . I was referred to a chiropractor and what they did was put hot pads on my back and after getting muscle that was pinching the nerve hot . They massaged it for a hr mainly moving the nerve and muscle . And at first it hurt like MF. And it was sore as hell that day and night
Then that night I went home and took a muscle relaxer and woke up feeling a little bit better than two days later went back to the Chiropractor and repeated . And then two days later went to chiropractor and did again (Friday) and by the time the following Monday came around it was a little sore from the chiropractor digging in the muscles aggressively but the nerve pain was gone.

So if you don't start feeling better go to chiropractor. And also when I played ball we would soak in a hot in really hot water tube with Epson salt. It seemed to help . Not sure why but it did help.

Good luck and take it easy for a few days until u get it fixed cause it will cause bigger problems or permanent nerve damage which takes surgery to fix.
Good luck bro

I would say find a chiropractor as well. And if you don't get immediate relief, find a different chiropractor. Their skills vary widely.

I have a problem with C7 getting "stuck" every few months just due to long hours on the computer. When I start to feel it I know I have maybe a couple of days to get it adjusted, or I will be in real pain. I get the same kind of shoulder-neck pinching and numb fingers you describe, sometimes with spasms in the biceps and triceps. I've used 7 different chiropractors over the last 15 years or so, and only 2 of them have been able to get C7 moving again on the first visit.

A good chiropractor might put you on a tens unit before adjusting, but a massage is usually overkill and expensive. My insurance covers the tens unit, but not the massage. The only form of adjustment that works for me is being on my back and having my neck "snapped" hard to each side, sometimes multiple times.

I've had others sit me in a chair, probe my neck, squeeze my shoulder blades, pull on my head, etc. It's all BS. If I'm on travel and need a chiropractor, I ask how he plans to adjust my neck before I let him touch me. A real chiropractor has no problem giving a straight answer, and I walk out immediately if I don't get one.

see a good chiropractor. i went to one for i think the same thing but he wasnt much help compared to the one mechanic had. the nerve ended up dying on me and for the past 6+ months I cant curl over 25lbs but he promised me other nerves would step up and i would get to near strength in a couple of months BS im wishing i wouldve went to another chiropractor or surgeon

You should try getting a cortisone shot in that nevre It hurts like a MOTHER FUCKING but that shit works wonders

Good feed back guys thanks.
Trying to avoid the doc right now if I can. Been trying a few stretches and will also try a heating pad.

It doesn't really effect my workout.
The pump a spasms in my right arm suck.
If my head is pointed forward and down and my right arm is behind my back the muscles in my rear shoulder spasm a contract.

Crazy how it runs down my whole right side.
Weird...

Hope you get to feeling better . I am nursing a swollen leg (quad) from pinn this morning . It went straight to my knee dammit

Thanks man.
Sounds painful I have not hit my quad yet. I have been rotating from
Glute glute- Delt Delt.
Maybe one day.

Delt sounds painful . Quad is a piece of cake. Doing the pinn. But it all went to my Damm knee and I couldn't rub it out.

I am shooting 150 mg of Test P which was terrible the first couple weeks.

Now I cut it with gso and warm my oils and take a hot shower blasting water while I massage the injection site.

No pip at all in my Delts the last five weeks. improved technique has also helped a lot.

Apply ice and heat. A pinched nerve is often accompanied by swelling, and swelling can compress the nerve even further. To help reduce swelling and increase circulation, rotate between periods of using ice and heat on the area of the pinched nerve, which is a method called hydrotherapy. Apply ice for 15 minutes 3-4 times a day to help reduce inflammation. After that, apply a heat pad to the affected area for 1 hour for 4-5 nights a week until your symptoms get better.
    • Place an ice pack, either a store bought one or a homemade one, over the affected area with light pressure. The pressure will help to cool the affected area. Keep a soft cloth between the ice pack and your skin to prevent any burns from the cold. Do not use for more than 15 minutes because it slows blood flow, which stalls healing.
    • Use a hot water bottle or a heat pad after icing to encourage blood flow, which can help to speed up the healing process. Do not heat for over an hour because it can increase inflammation.
    • You can also take a hot bath or soak the pinched nerve in hot water to relax the muscles in the area and increase blood flow.[7]

My doc always said ice and very little heat. Heat intensifies the discomfort. However the heat does make sense in loosening up the muscles.

It's in a really weird spot.

I'm not sure why it's causing my lat and right arm to spasm and contract and make my fingers go numb?
Not sure if the added pump or blood flow is a good or bad thing?

It really hurts after I workout, duh!
Obviously because it's inflamed.
But there has been no real loss of strength or inrange of motion.

Well from what I have learned . You doctor is correct . Cause most MD's say ice for 24 hr and heat for 12 . I heat as little as possible.

I was having trouble with a ruptured disc in my neck which made my neck stiff and a little painful. Like most of us guys I said fuck it, it will go away. After a month of it bothering me I went to see a Chiro and IMO it made things worse.
My left arm starting having that pins and needles feeling all the way down to my fingers. Next thing ya know I start losing strength in my arm and grip. Had some testing done and sure enough some damage was done and the muscles in my shoulder and arm were in atrophy.
Had a ct scan and saw a lot of damage and this is where the ruptured disc was discovered and was seriously pinching a nerve.
Finally had to have surgery. Didn't want it but I was literally losing my strength on the
left side of my upper body.
I feel much better now, 2.5 years after surgery but still haven't gained all the strength back and doubt if I will.
What I learned from this whole idea was to get a ct scan and some xrays first before seeing a chiropractor. They may worsen an already bad situation.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do but be careful.

I wouldn't wait that long. And don't do the same lift until you feel better.

If you have insurance get in to see him.

I know Paul thanks for your advice.
The thing is it doesn't effect my lifts or range of motion.
It hurts after I workout more than anything and the intense pump I have going on is making it worse.

Like your heart rate does with a toothache.
The numbness running down my arm comes and goes it's not constant.
It's more annoying than anything!

It would be better to consult a physio instead of seeing some specialist doctors. Seeing them initially and taking an MRI will be a good choice so that the physio you are consulting can get a proper idea to plan your treatment. I had suffered this before and my physiotherapist in Mississauga at Dynamic Physiotherapy clinic diagnosed the exact cause and got the treatment at the right time. So if you are aiming to get a good result, then consult a physio asap.
