hey guys i was doing some research on Proscar. I read tyhat Proscar can help regrow hair after 6-12 months of using it. is this true?? Thanks

it's my understanding that once a hair follicle is dead, nothing will bring it back short of hair follicle transplantation. however, the "regrowth" seen with treatments like proscar, etc. is from the follicles which haven't died, one's that are merely supporting one, fine, little biddy strand of hair, will grow to their full potential (most healthy follicles have one, two, three and four strands possibly growing from them). thus you see a thickening of your hair, not necessarily a "regrowth". this is just what i've found, i could definitely be wrong.

i personally have been looking into Low Level Laser Therapy treatments...could be a total scam, but i'm kinda desparate!

It will allow you to keep what you have, cut the Proscar tabs in thirds. Its much cheaper than Propecia this way.

Actually I cut them into 1/4. I have had three hair transplant surgeries I have been on proscar for a couple of years I recently took off about six months from the gym got married built a house bought a boat a million reasons to stay away,HOWEVER I just noticed recently that my breast were getting soar and it appears that i may have a slight case of Gyno,I posted on board and received some replies but i have not done a cycle in over a year,The consencious is that I may have gotten too much est.I do not know its been weird.I have been reading myself to find out why.I am getting ready for a EQ & winnie cycle so if it gets worse I will go and have it removed. So i welcom your thread and will watch it close

Bro, why did you have to have 3 transplants. Thought one was supposed to do the trick??

Yeah, it doesnt really work that way. Technically, a hair follicle never dies, it merely becomes dormant. It can still technically regrow hair. Finasteride works well, but seems to only work well on the crown of the head. The Front and Temple region are, generally, unaffected. Try finasteride, minoxodil and spiro. That is your best best right now.

My crown is filling in nicely but it took over a year before I noticed. and it really took off when I did some GH about a year ago.......11

Proscar inhibits natural testosterone from converting into DHT which is believed to cause male pattern baldness. It cantains 5mg of the active Finasteride per tablet, and is normally prescribed for enlarged prostate.
Propecia is the 1mg version of Proscar and is prescribed to treat hair loss. In most people, if you start taking it early enough, you will see some hair regrowth. At a minimum, it will dramatically slow your current hair loss. It normally takes 3-6 months for you to notice a difference. I've been taking it for about 7 years and I'm VERY happy with the results.
Since Propecia is a cosmetic drug, most insurance companies do not cover it. Therefore, many try to get Proscar prescribed. If you are taking Proscar just to treat hair loss, break the tablet into quarters, or even break it into halves and take every other day. 5mg of Finasteride a day will most likely cause some impotence!

Any of you guys notice that the DHT inhibitors make it harder for you to lose weight, especially around the midsection?

definitely and it's because of the estrogen issue. dht, to a degree, acts as estrogen antagonist. if you reduce dht, you have more estrogen. also, if you inhibit test's conversion to dht, then you have that much more test converting to estrogen. so, in both cases, you end up with more estrogen and that's what makes it harder to lose weight around the abdomen. ever notice female fat pattern distribution?

i've noticed the same thing. i've been on finasteride for about 3 and a half years and even when i'm getting lean it's tough to zap fat in the lower abdomen and lower back. i'm leaning out right now, dropped about 12-14 pounds over the past 6 weeks and the lower back and lower abdomen are most definitely tougher than they used to be. the lower back probably has a lot to do with avoidance of back movements in my case, but yes - i have noticed.

Yeah, recently I've tried to get lean and with 1/4 proscar I'm having a hell of a time with the midsection. And if you've ever tried dutasteride this effect happens stronger, faster. I think I'm gonna get off the proscar and go on mixoxidil/alzeic acid. I am doing the same things that I used to do, probably better than ever and it's tough to get really lean.

God damn can't I be ripped and hard and have hair. Guess I have to start GH soon.

I'm glad it's just not me. I'm having the same problem. I figured it was because I'm older and its just getting harder. gettin ready to change my cycle to prop. eq, tren for the last 4-5 wks along with my diet and cardio hope this helps...........11
