In light of posts from earlier this year, several folks who paid a day or two before the last day QSC was accepting payments did in fact receive what they had ordered from both China and US shippers.
It appears it was the clients who paid in the last 24-36 hours before they went offline (<raises hand>), clients who ordered low-/no-stock items, and clients who had open issues (seizures, unresolved missing items, lost pkgs)…those were the ones who lost out. None of that was the fault of the client of course.
Combining those two patterns…that just does not comport with an intentional/premeditated exit scam…it’s not greedy enough, right? I think QSC was truly caught off-guard by some very serious law-enforcement investigation event and tried to effectively “flush everything down the toilet”, stock and equipment, including comms**. In the context of the materials crisis that began at the end of last year…maybe they thought their opsec or bribes or whatever was stronger than it actually was?
Granted, in the long term it probably doesn’t really matter.
I can’t see how they could ever return to market under their own name or even saying “we used to be QSC” under another name without provoking additional sanctions/punitive threats from authorities, especially if they do have legitimate business in China. Assuming the stricter rules continue to be enforced. Assuming they are still free/alive.
** there’s a definitive date time at which point QSC stopped using their main WhatsApp account completely. Message sent midday on 1/8: near-normal interactions and read receipts. Message sent in wee hours of 1/9: no read receipts to this day.
I think QSC either wiped their grey market/black market comms devices…or had the devices (and maybe all their stock and equipment!) seized by authorities.
