They don't get it, and never will. There's no reasoning with them. They view themselves as customers worthy of compensation instead of accomplices deserving of absolutely nothing. No one was scammed. Their own conspiracy was ended by the Chinese government, i.e. "shit happens," and they refuse to accept their involvement in it.
