Rack pulls

Ive been rack pulling recently. Which is nice...my lower back tolerates it well enough. Got 585 last week! Toughest part is the grip. I refuse to use aids of any sort. And ill stick with it till i can crush golfballs with my grip. Better that way.

Much better to never let your grip fall behind. I can grip more than I can deadlift or block/rack pull.

Well u know yrs of NOT deadlifting i am behind now. Used to be a deadlifting hopeful. Loved it. I told this story before. First time i EVER deadlifted i did 405. But you know that was 17 yrs ago, lol. Im most proud of that.

When i reintroduced rack pulls a couple wks back by neck and trap and upper back seriously blew up during the first couple sessions. It was noticeable and it was fucking awesome. All that weight really "shocked"(hate that word) the upper back. Its slowed down now. So guess what im doing? Timed static holds to increase the pulling forces under time. I want it to rip me apart like a chicken wing before i drop it.
Pull off the ripped up callouses and do it again. Oh yeah. Love it

I hear static holds in the rack are great for grip. I've never tested where my grip gives out. Need to try it out one of these days. I suspect I could hold onto 150-200lbs more than my deadlift.

You probably would've had a great deadlift. I only pulled 245x3 my first time.

Shoulder width not sufficient?
Im doing them for back size. Snatch grip wide as possible does it better than anything else

Jealous. Have some one time you.

Static holds are great. Rack pulls with reverse band are awesome for helping you break from the sticking point and work the lockout. I also like pulling from the floor and holding the bar against the pins at knee height.. Guess that's a static hold too lol..

I've never done snatch grip in the rack, idk why not. Guess I need to add that in...

Oh that's rough! I usually just scrape them off in the shower with a pumice stone... I think mine are permanently embedded with chalk lmao

Oh yeah? Never heard or thought of doing that, I'll give the stone a try. Not now, it hurts. Lol Appreciate it.

Tested out my static hold strength just now. Almost passed out after 4 seconds with 855lbs. They put me on prednisone yesterday and every time i take it I almost pass out at the gym. Gonna try to hold for some decent time with 675-765lbs sometime soon, like 20 seconds. I've never trained grip before and it's kinda fun. I'll show you the vid here in a bit. You can see the moment when everything goes dark for me.

I did wide grip rack pulls today, in the squat rack, standing on a couple of crossfit (?) stackable boxes. If you can't adjust where the rack sits, lift the floor!

My grip strength is pathetic....

2 plates for 10 reps is all I can do with normal grip. I did two sets with 3 plates for 10 reps before the back pump started to bother me.

3 plates is easy weight, but my grip gives out after 6 reps, have to regrip and lock thumb and index finger every other rep after that.

I could probably do at least 4 plates if my grip wasn't so bad. In time I guess. And I don't want to use straps.
