Recommendations for calorie/macro tracker

I’m currently using the MyFitnessPal app, but I was wondering if anyone has any better, or similar apps that are a cheaper option before I started paying the either $20 a month or $80 a year for the premium part of the app. Outside of the obvious tracking part I was hoping for another app with the barcode scanner like MyFitnessPal has. I’m just working on dialing my nutrition back in like I used to have it before I start my first cycle so I’m not leaving anything on the table. I also wouldn’t mind any recommendations for a new workout program for when I do start my cycle. I have a few I’ve been doing for a while but I figure it doesn’t hurt to have some more.

LoseIt! has a scanner, I've used it for a while now. It's occasionally like 50-60 bucks for lifetime, although you can use free version for straight calories.
Oh nice $50-$60 for a lifetime sounds like a hell of a deal I’ll definitely be checking that one out thank you!

Edit: after a few minutes of messing around I found out the answer to my question on my own, so don’t feel the need to read my rambling below haha sorry about that. Also it’s $39.99 a year for premium, which is half the price of MyFitnessPal so still a dub, and did you mean there’s a sale for the lifetime membership randomly?

Quick question, I know it said I’d be able to do a weekend thing where my calories would be higher, but the plan the app created for me put me at 2512 (or around that) which is a good amount less then I’d like. I was hoping for it to start at around 3500 calories for the beginning of my bulk cycle, then see if I needed to add more. Is it possible to manually up my calories? I suppose it’s not a big deal if I went over, so it’s not a huge deal but I’m just curious. I’m weird about stuff sometimes and it’d bother me seeing that I went over what I was aiming for each day, especially considering I frequently eat a dinner that comes fairly close to 2k lol.

I think there was a way to tweak and customize your target calories, but I generally pay more attention to the macros/calorie totals regardless of whether it says I'm over/under. I just use it for tracking and ignore the goals it sets.

I figured it out, and I like it better then MyFitnessPal for sure so thank you for throwing that out there for me.

Happy to help. I've been using it for like 3 years and have no complaints, it's been a huge help progressing with the nutrition side of things. Idk if they run specials or just spam you with specials once you've had the app long enough, but sooner or later they will offer you lifetime for super cheap.

Hell even $30 a year is more then half what I was about to pay for another, plus I like the aesthetic, and lay out of loseit better.

I use Fitatu but I’m in the UK, don’t know if you guys in US have it.
Great app and premium feature cost a penny

Carb Manager works well for me. Has a scanner, you can save your own recipes, you can save your regularly eaten meals for quick adds. It has presets for macros depending on your goals or You can customize them yourself and it’s Completely free. You can purchase the premium version but I’ve yet to find a reason or need to do so.

I just use MyFitnessPal (free version) that I have linked with my Fitbit. It’s a perfect combo for me. Although I’m pretty boring and tend to eat only a handful of meals repeatedly that I have saved - so I little to no use for the barcode scanning feature

MyFitnessPal is awful. I started using it so my dietician could track my eating. I’m weaning myself off it now.

Cronometer seems solid and is recommended by a few sources I trust. This also gets bonus points for tracking micronutrients.

My current go-to is the RP Diet Coach app. For pure tracking, it probably lags some features of other apps - but having a coach in my pocket has been invaluable. Telling me what macros to eat, when, and adjusting them weekly based on my weigh-ins is freaking awesome.
