Reporter Challenges Trump on Lie About Vets Choice, and He Ends the Press Conference Instead of Answering

President Bone Spurs at it again...

Speaking at his resort in Bedminster, New Jersey, at his second press conference in two days Saturday, President Donald Trump abruptly ended a briefing when a CBS reporter challenged him on a lie he has repeated multiple times. Trump called on White House Correspondent Paula Reid, and she asked, “Why do you keep saying you passed Veterans Choice?” Trump attempted to move on to another reporter, but Reid continued speaking. “It was passed in 2014. But it was a false statement, sir.” Trump said earlier in the press conference that he had passed the Veterans Choice Act, which makes it possible for veterans to use their government health benefits at providers other than Veterans Administration hospitals. In reality, it was passed in 2014 under President Barack Obama. After Trump refused to answer the question multiple times, he cut off the briefing to the cheers of his supporters. Reid retweeted video of the exchange in its aftermath.

Devil's advocate here...

"He" as in the Republican party? The bill was introduced by a republican, so maybe?

Out of all the random, crazy shit he has said since he ran for president that's one of the claims I would like clarification on as well

He, as in Trump, ended the press conference

Oh I know he ended it, the "he" was a hypothetical of whatever Trump might have been thinking when he originally said he established the act.

Clearly Obama has to sign it to make it official, it's absolutely not his idea though. The leftist never have our military, past or present, held in high regard.

Poorly worded on the "he" post, sorry for the confusion.

I think he's honestly so off the cuff and doesn't really have a grasp of what's going on that he thinks he did sign it into law, instead of just making expansions.
yes, absolutely. He knows that he saw it cross his desk and he put a signature on it.

You'd think he would have been told soooo many times that he didn't pioneer the dang thing that he would never forget....

Ben Shapiro made a good point that I would butcher if I tried to quote exactly but more or less I think he was trying to say that Trump tells his own version of events and the holes in his story get filled with exaggerations and lies that have become normalized.

That was a publicly signed expansion bill too so it wasn't like he just saw something in passing on his desk... He sat in front of reporters and vets and whoever else attends those things and spoke about it then signed it. Kind of par for the course with these things though, I don't think half of politicians know what they're signing/voting for or why.

I enjoy Shapiro. His no nonsense brand is fun, plus his debating style is second to none.

I'd imagine these politicians see so many of these things, it's hard to keep track.

Or maybe he’s a self-marketing sociopath that knows his base will accept and mindlessly repeat whatever he says

he creates his own reality

By not answering questions when he knows he can't answer them without being emotionally driven and talking out of his ass? Hmmm, I know someone like that...

“Obama wants to strip funding from veterans' medical choice program.

President Obama’s 2016 budget blueprint proposes rolling back a program that gives veterans the right to receive faster care outside of the long waitlists at the troubled Veterans Affairs medical system.”

Obama wants to strip funding from veterans' medical choice program

This is kind of a misleading title for an article, to be honest... Good click bait. The funding wasn't stripped so much as it was reallocated to other areas of the VA because the use rates of the program were low. This indicated that vets were more likely to stick with the VA than go elsewhere as part of the choice program, so they reallocated the money towards areas it could be more useful.

The issues at the VA continue though, regardless. The backlog of applications was apparently so extensive the last few years that the current administration decided to just purge the applications with administration errors, even though the errors were known to be caused by the VA enrollment process. So, that solved political problems with the extensive backlog that was a campaign promise to fix... Not so good for the vets waiting for the enrollment to process though.

lies that have become normalized.
True that. To the point that the media can't keep up with all 20,000 plus of them.

The thing is that trump could shoot a man in the face on 5th ave in broad daylight with witnesses and trumps base would still support him.

The truth no longer makes a difference with a lot of people in this country anymore. They are more comfortable with a man who lies every fucking time he opens his mouth than see this country led by a man or woman who threatens there sense of white identity. That is what this election comes down to and i believe that there are going to be a lot of very upset Mesorx members in November. I will be lmao and thoroughly enjoy the threads posted by these racist imbeciles for at least the next 8 years.

On the flip side of things, Creepy Joe is at best a hair sniffing, confused old racist, and at worst a hair sniffing, confused old racist with tendencies towards pedophilia, yet his base will still support him.

Frankly, i don't want either of them running the country, but if i were forced to vote, i'd vote for the lesser of two evils. Just as the majority did when Chump ran against Billary.

Joe Biden is not my first choice. He is the best out of 2 bad choices. I choose biden over trump however fucked up that may be.
The first vote of my life was for Reagan. I voted for straight Republican tickets until 2016. I could not bring myself to vote for a con artist. I followed trump long enough that i could not support him. I lived in New York for many years and know his history.

I personally know many life long Republicans who feel the same way. As a matter of fact i cant think of one person who voted for him who is going to repeat the mistake and votie for him again. If they will they are ashamed to admit it to intelligent people.
