Reverse grip weighted pull ups are awesome!!

I’ve always been big into weighted dips and pull-ups. Recently I’ve been experimenting using the slight incline (middle grips) doing weighted reverse grip pull-ups. I was repping sets of 8 with a 50lb kettle bell. Its really hitting delts, front and rear, biceps, forearms and lats.

What a great all around movement that I don’t see enough people doing. It works even better if done properly by exploding up dropping almost all the way down with a slow decent.

A simple yet effective strength movement.

Why is it some fat asses can bench 350lbs but can’t do 5 proper pull-ups with good form weighted or not?

Kinda sad! :(

In my opinion, every great back routine starts with pullups
I always start wide grip

15x5

Switxh to close grip

25×4

To get started on back day, really loosens you up and gets you ready for the heavy lifts.

I dont do weighted pullups for some reason or another lol

Isn't a reverse grip pull up a chin up?

A few years ago I was chasing a 400lb total weight weighted chin up. Never did get it. Best I remember getting was 215lbs bodyweight + 105lbs added weight for 5 reps. I did a heavier set of 3, but can't remember what it was. I haven't done any weighted in awhile, still can do 20 reps bodyweight though.

Yeah more or less. The incline on the grip feels more natural on the wrists. Also doing them weighted really adds to it. It’s much more noticeable on the lats and rear delts, It one movement that really brings out upper body vascularity and pumps. I do them twice a week once for power and again for hypertrophy.

I think it’s just underutilized because it’s old school.

I work on a variety of pull-ups and bodyweight rows.

They've been the foundation of most of my client's back programming. Same as push-up variations.

Bodyweight movements are infinitely modifiable and controllable. They help you feel the movements and the muscles working before you go ham with the free weight.

Indispensable.

Still not sure what you mean when you refer to an incline here though. Unless you mean the body in relation to the bar?

I think he means the handles incline up? It's a pull up.
Ha, I know I sound crazy! Yeah reverse grip is technically a chip up. This example obviously has no bar involved and the grip allows you to drop all the way down without twisting your wrists or shoulders. Which is even better if your doing them weighted. 3DB0042F-7108-445C-898B-4F3DC01EDB9C.jpeg

I've started doing chin-ups and pull-ups using fat grippz and it definitely gives a nice tweak to both movements. My pull-up game is weak as fawwkkk right now been hard to do a lot of movements with plates in my left hand now but its worth pushing through it
