The thing about statins is they are super easy to get prescribed by your doctor and insurance always covers them, generics widely available. So there isn't much sense in buying them elsewhere.

If you have borderline or bad cholesterol issues, I highly recommend statins. This is my bloodwork on only 5mg Crestor daily for about 6 months after also cleaning up my diet. My cholesterol numbers were historically borderline and bad at times before this.

I was hard headed and put off getting on statins for too long. Now I have buildup in my arteries. I wish I would have started statins years ago.

What @Cohiba said. It's extremely easy to get a statin prescribed. Hell, most doctors will hand them out like candy nowadays, same with Metformin. I pay ~$8 for a 90 day supply of Crestor @ 10mg and ~$18 for a 90 day supply of Metformin @ 1000mg. Just eat like a pig/don't workout a week or two leading up to some bloodwork, go back for the follow up, your PCP will see it looks like shit, and say something to the effect of, "Oh my dad has [insert health issue here] and uses [insert medication you want here] and it works really well for him. I'd feel comfortable if you prescribed that instead of [whatever medication they choose to prescribe that isn't your medication of choice, if they suggest something else] since that's what he's had success with."
