Ruckin's dbol/test/eq log

ATG with minimal forward pelvic rotation is impressive as hell with that kind of weight man! Also repping my max one deadlifts for 3 it's fricken awesome! Did you do the deadlifts mid workout too? Cause if you did I'd say you have another rep or 2 you could hit as you must be fatigued by that amount of heavy lifting s day

Thanks!

I did it at the end, so after cleans and all those squats. I'm sure I could get 500x5+ if I deadlifted first but I always squat before I deadlift, so there's not much of a point testing myself in a scenario I'm never actually in during my normal training... At least that's how I see it.

Power clean: 205x1x8
Press: 175x8x3
Squat (paused atg): 335x8x4
Paused Incline press: 210x10x3
Deadlift: 500x3 (texas bar)
Chins: 261x5,5,7
Db Shrugs: 85sx15x3 (~1 min rest)
Face pulls: 120x17,6,3,3

WOOHOO up 50 lbs on my squat in less than 4 weeks! I'm a little disappointed in my deadlift though. I'm know I could have gotten 4 but I didn't wanna risk any form breakdown, and now that I'm deadlifting twice a week it's probably good to not push a set as much as I possibly can, but what do I know.

I had my buddy snap a picture of me when I was paused at the bottom during my squats so I could see how my depth was, so I figure I'll share it with you fellas too:

Killer depth on squats and good deadlift considering the squat volume right before it. That'll easily take your reps down a few.

Lol, mirin' random inanimate object shrugs.

One time during a long stint in county jail I did shrugs by twisting two sheets up like ropes and tying one across the bottom part of the cell door and one higher up across the door and suspending myself upside down shrugging with the bottom sheet while keeping my legs upright with the top sheet.
squats with your cellie on your shoulders lol...
fill up water bottles to make DBs and shit

Btw that 500x3 deadlift was a PR for me, even though I was a little disappointed with it. First time I've ever pulled in the 500s for more than 1 rep.

I'm the same way, I'll get a PR and still find a way to be disappointed about. Congrats though, you're officially doing reps with 500. What's the deadlift goal next week?

I did a happy dance when I pulled 5 plates last week....

I hadn't though about it yet. Maybe 510-515x3? I mean ffs I've been adding 15 lbs per week to my squat, I feel like I should be gaining at least the same amount of strength on my deads.

I tried for 585 towards the end of my first cycle, got it up to my knees but couldn't finish it, and that was the only time in probably the last 2 years I've attempted a 1rm deadlift. I'd guess right now around low-mid 500s.

I think 10-15 pounds a week is reasonable at least for awhile. Maybe just 5 later on. If you think hitting a new 3RM isn't going to happen just do a different rep PR and keep the momentum going.

You may be right. I was thinking since he'd been near 585 in the past he could make bigger jumps to catch up. I'd stick with 10 and in a few weeks if it's too easy go from there.

while a part of me is totally inline with your thoughts, push the envelop as much as possible, i plan on doing this for a while. injury is inevitable. which is why i think i love lifting heavy. its a balancing act between being straight reckless to your body and risking serious harm to it, and bettering yourself each and every lifting session. while i don't think my lifts aren't anything impressive, because they really aren't, i often times get guys in the gym coming up to me daping me up saying "your crazy man. i would never think/dream about doing half of the shit you do". thats what makes us all crazy in some way or another, our willingness to push the envelop where others are content.

Damn near shed a tear on that one bud:oops: (I'm on PCT) that's beautiful man, really sums up what the sport is being humble while kicking ass and taking names

Yeah, same here. I see other people at the gym and they do the same weights week after week, month after month and they're content with that. I could never be happy with that. I hear the same things from people. They say, "oh, you hit x amount, so are you done now?" That line of thinking doesn't even make sense to me.

Definitely a balancing act though, more so when you're not in your 20's anymore. I push the envelope when it comes to the weight, but I'm learning to see the signs when it's time to back off a little. Lingering shoulder and elbow aches, I might push on a few sessions, but I'll take a few days off if it doesn't let up.

I'm feeling pretty beat up today. It probably didn't help that I only got 6 hours of sleep last night, but I'll have plenty of time to make up for the sleep the next couple of days. Looking forward to resting up today and tomorrow and eating everything in sight.

So I somehow got pretty sick today and am being forced to skip the gym. I'm wondering if it's related to my training. I don't doubt it considering how hard I've been pushing for the last few weeks. Might be my body's way of forcing me to rest and recover. I was feeling a strong urge to take a small deload anyway so this doesn't seem like a coincidence. Today also just so happens to be the first day I'm off the dbol. I'm really hoping I feel better tomorrow so I can at least go in and do a deload workout, instead of doing nothing.

Feeling a little better today, but I feel extremely sore everywhere. Like I got hit by a bus or mike tyson beat the snot out of me. At least my headache and fever are gone though. Hopefully I'll be able to get back in the gym tomorrow.

Damn. Where have I been?

This is a great log man. Awesome progress, can't wait to see you crush your goals on this one.

Feel better too! Sucks getting sick on blast, definitely feels like a waste of time. But better to get the rest in and get it over with quicker.
