Saying Goodbye To An Old Friend

I know there's a thread dedicated to dogs but I wanted to give mine his own.


Jack passed away this morning after a diagnosis of hemangiosarcoma and splenic rupture 6 weeks ago. He was 13 years old.

Jack was the son I never had. He was my best friend and partner in crime, and we had dinner together almost every night. He was my constant travelling partner, always ever vigilante when he was on "moose patrol" during night drives on the highway. A few of you know that it was my ex that first got him but he bonded with me almost immediately, and he came with me after my divorce 11 years ago. We've been inseparable ever since. Jack's favorite thing in the world was chasing sticks, and anytime he was outside he usually had one in his mouth and wanted someone to throw it for him.

Jack, it was a privilege and an honor knowing you and I will miss you as long as I live. So long, my friend.

Sorry for your loss CBS. Last time I cried was burying my lab in the backyard(cancer). My 15yo son sniffled and it set me off too....

Im sorry to hear that. Im sure he was a good son. I myself have been getting prepared for my boy when his time up. I see the age creeping in slowly but shurly. My doy has traveled all over the U.S. with me (Driving) lol. I actually had to go to court and fight for him because an ex wanted to bust my balls. The crazy part was that she had a dog of her own and sge end up getting rid of it. I see bow how if she won the case it would had happend to him as Well. Anyways man. Take care.

Sorry for your loss CBS. Jack sounded like a great friend. You gave him a wonderful life. Dogs are amazing creatures. Their unconditional love can't be matched.

I had put my girl, Cally, down October 23, 2018. She was 14yrs old. I can't believe it's been a yr. I've missed her every day since. She loved to go on walks and that helped me to get back into shape. My advice would be to help another dog have a wonderful life as soon as possible, don't wait like I have it only makes it harder. There's so many that need good homes.

Hugs and prayers. I lost my dog to a poisonous toad. He died a horrible death. One of the worst days of my life. I cry just thinking about it. His sister was depressed for a year. I can still see it in her eyes.
