Semaglutide and Iron Absorption

Just had bloods come back with very low iron, I've been on UGL semaglutide for a few months now which a quick google shows can impact absorption (most likely from just slower digestion but other pathways are possible).

However I am also on PPI which are also shown to lessen absorption so wondering if anyone has had the same issue when just on semaglutide?
I'm speaking to a doctor Tuesday and theres no way I'll be taken off the PPI so if in doubt the GLP-1 would have to go (at least for a trial) which would be a shame. Obviously if the PPI (or just the GLP-1) I can go the supplementation route (I have started) but if it is likely just the sema then Id probably just stop that.

It's the GLP1 you can find plenty of ppl with iron deficiency from it.

Many have labs prior the start of a glp1 and after it and you can see ferritin decreased. Supplement with iron bisglycinate and you will be fine

Thanks for this, especially the bisglycinate recommendation which I hadn't heard of before, but after reading up I'm not sure why other types (species) of iron are used.

Only iron supplement worth ingesting xD
The rest is useless as fuck

You can also add vitamin c to help with absorption.
Take it with meals and your iron.

Also consider looking into apolactoferrin.

I'm confused, I thought it was tirz that was associated with iron deficiencies?

Thank you for this. Wish I would have seen this during my first sema run. Starting reta here soon enough, and will be sure to use iron bisglycinate this time around
