If you want a good squat rack here you go, and dont forget to check out the pictures!!!

Squat Rack: Everyone needs an 8 foot rack
Recently, events beyond our control prevented us from having access to a decent squat rack. After a bit of searching on the internet we realized that
a) Squat racks are expensive
b) Squat racks are expensive
c) Being in college this dictates that we have approximately $50 to spend on such items.
As you can see this left us with little choice. We could go and buy a Weider squat rack, but we have plenty of closet space. So thus began our quest to:
CONSTRUCT A SQUAT RACK.
We set our budget at approximately $50 dollars. We knew we would need the following:
4 Posts - we decided on 4x4x8 posts. We wanted to use sequoia but we live in Florida.
7 Crosspieces - We decided on using 2x4s.
28 1/4" diamater 6 inch bolts.
56 1/4" washers (buy extra)
28 1/4" nuts
2 8" galvanized 1" diameter pipes
2 54" galvanized 1" diameter pipes
4 End cap looking things for galvanized 1" pipes
Here is the schematic, using the latest drafting technologies:

Looks good but I would use it till I could buy one. Newyork Barbell had some good cheap ones. Unless 350 some is too high. Or buy used. sTILL YOU DID A KICK ASS JOB ON THAT BRO. BUMP YOU FOR THAT

Wow that isnt too bad. I am impressed with your ambition to lift. Most people have access to the best equipment money can buy, and still dont do anything. You were limited but you overcame that. I think you are going to impress a lot of others here as well.

Also, you are in college, but your stories in the General Section suggest that you live in a house with your wife...and then you said "we" in your above post. Do you live with your wife and other guys in a house that is in a suburban neighborhood? Does your neighbor's wife hit on the other guys in your house too?

[MK]

P.S. I like the file called squatcad.jpg ("cad" means "computer aided design," and the design was rough-handed on scratch paper. I just thought that was kind of funny.)

Is this the same Rambo that walks around in his wife's underwear? Is that a toolbelt or a thong?! Nice construction, btw. Looks sturdy!
