Shoulder Injury

Ok so I've always had problems with my shoulders but my left shoulder especially. Recently I have pretty bad pain that feels like muscle pain but it also feels like joint pain. Its directly on my anterior deltoid, and the pain is slowly going away, but its still pretty prominent. It hurts from where the collar bone and trap meet all the way down to where my ant delt meets my bicep. When i put a shirt on and my hands are over my head there is pain and when i reach across my body(left to right) there is pain also. I've stopped lifting for 3 days now and I'm going to continue to take this week off. I'm on cycle so going to the hospital, to me, isn't a god idea right now. I'm starting to apply heat on it at night before bed and I'm taking 2 ibuprofen every 6 hours. My shoulder has also been able to pop in and out of socket easily, and it has given out on me multiple times while doing incline dumbbell chest. Anybody have any idea of what the problem could be? I know this was a vague description but I can answer more precises questions if there are any. I appreciate your help.

Did your bicep change at all? Is it looking a little more bulky than usual or is there a noticeable bulge or something you can feel? Have you ever damaged your rotator cuff?

If your shoulder is popping out that easily bro that sounds like some tendon issues...tendons arent made to stretch, only ligaments...i messed up my right shoulder doing overhead presses with 85lb dumbells last year..when it happens ALL ACTIVITY is almost stopped, you cant do chest, arms, shoulders, back without it really bothering you...is that your case?? Now before any of my shoulder days i grab the 5lbs weights and go through an entire warmup that looks like frontward swimming strokes, backstroke, side raises, front raises, shoulder press, arnoldsall one after another just to get a great stretch and nice blood burn in there to get it going. Shoulders has to be one of the worst injuries, especially on cycle...do you know when exactly you hurt it? That may help pinpoint your problem some...hate to say it bro, especially on cycle...REST

Bro I reread your post and if it wasnt for the shoulder popping out so easy I would say you over exerted your anterior delt because i have had those exact same problems (shirt and reaching) maybe your long term shoulder problems are from your popping out of socket and your newer aches are a pulled deltoid...

There isn't a change in my bicep at all, and no I've never had rotator issues before. And it doesn't hurt when I do all movements, it only hurts when i break the 90 degree plane on chest workouts mostly dumbbell ones. And it just really hurts in the anterior deltoid in my left shoulder, its the whole muscle really. but yesterday my girlfriend massaged it and she found the spot that hurt and I consider it a nerve because when she was hitting it made my hand have that feeling like its falling asleep. And it started to hurt around a month and a half ago. But not like this at all.

did you ever pin your delts? Sorry for the 20 questions but im trying to troubleshoot via computer and its kinda hard lol

It would be the nerve if your hand/arm was constantly going numb or episodes of numbness..they can run a test at neurological science dept...when your girl is massaging it she is hitting the nerve causing that feeling...you dont have to tell your doc your on cycle your not having cycle related problems, unless your BP is up when they check and say your taking hydroxycut or something...sometimes just a week off isnt enough for that shoulder, im speaking from experience, i feel for ya bro...the shoulder poppin out is what gives me confusion, mine never did that but would die out mid set...

Hmmm after hearing that I'd go get checked out man, it doesn't have to be a hospital visit. If it is nerve damage you shouldn't fool around...but you'll never know what it is unless you get it looked at.

I have had shoulder problems too. They can pop out of socket but not completely like when the go limp...anyway best thing I found was doing rotator cuff exercises everyday with a elastic band. Helped give me a bit more balance and stablity when doing overhead presses. Also dont break the 90* angle on chest press that just overstressed the shoulder and does nothing for your chest...unless u are a powerlifter or OLY lifter.

The thing about the popping is that I've always been able to pop my shoulders out of socket for as long as I can remember. i don't know if you call that being double jointed or what but the older I've gotten the looser my left one has become.

Ohhhh bro, then that makes things totally different...whew;) im willing to bet you have the same thing I had bro, its a shitty feeling and my girl used to rub mine real deep and i would scream, i hope some others chime in but just from hearing what you said brings back memories, i never even go heavy on military/dumbell press anymore, umm the warm-up i mentioned really works for me ever since..and i warm up on my presses right after that never going to high but kill all the raises, rows, machines, etc...Good luck bro, rest it up, its gonna be hard but its better to rest and heal now than to continue and be down for the count!!! Get some more massages out of it while your at it:rolleyes:

AG,,as you know lifting weights will put you just as high risk for injury as any other contact sport.Remember..bb is like a race bro..it does not matter how you start but how you finish that counts. You are going to have to quit any and all bench press incline exercises for a few months, barbells or dumbells. When you start back on barbell inclines use a slight angle not a major one and change your grip more narrow than before..THIS IS IMPORTANT ! Changing the grip to more narrow will take major stress off the shoulders.you need to rehab bro..i know..it freaking sucks..your friend d.;)
