Hello everyone! Recently I started my cycle. ( 3 weeks ago ) I’m on a test only cycle currently running 750 planning on ending up at 1g. I don’t know if this means anything could be something else but recently my head had started slightly hurting. Not a huge deal and barely noticeable but my scalp is hurting a little. The pain is not a headache or anything but it feel slightly sensitive to touch. I don’t know how to explain it but it’s just something iv noticed. Anyone know what I’m talking about? Could be something unrelated I do ride a motorcycle on the daily and is just came into summer here in Australia so could be something to do with taking my helmet on and off a lot. I have no itchiness or noticeable hair shedding right now. But thought I’d ask here to see if it’s a symptom of dht or something.

I went through this for years. Scalp sensitivity, typically right at the hairline, then loss sometime later. It would return at the "new" hairline, followed by more loss in that area. It's a slow motion disaster.

You need to take immediate action. It can be stopped.

Use 2% Nizoral shampoo twice a week. Leave it on for a FULL 5 minutes. Make sure it's on the scalp.

Strongly consider at least low dose Finasteride. I'm extremely sensitive and had a bad time in 1mg years ago and gave up. Returning (far too late), .25mg (1/4 tab) a day stoped the scalp sensitivity and didn't induce Finasteride sides,

2.5-5mg oral minoxidil will fortify your scalp health even more by supplying the oxygen and nutrients your follicles are being denied by this destructive process? This is not nearly as vital as the first two steps.

Do you get oily hair if not washed (at least) once a day?

I'm not a fan of topicals. The effectiveness is all over the place, and while you're waiting months to see if it works for you, your follicles are under assault, losing irreplaceable stem cells every day.

Oral Fin, even better combined with oral minox, has decades of proven effectiveness. The oral Fin was the only thing to stop the "pre loss" scalp sensitivity, which comes from the nerves attached to hair bulbs sensing the local inflammation, thats the last stage of the chain reaction of killing the stem cells responsible for hair growth.

I wish I knew if I was prone to hairloss or not. Honestly feels like such a gamble. My hairline is perfect still and iv almost just tuned 25.

Can’t oral fin give you sexual side effects and gyno?

I'm a Fin hyper responder. 1mg, the dose tens of millions take without issue daily, killed me. Scared me off it for decades.

.25mg is a microdose, A crumb sized piece of the pill. Sides are essentially impossible that dose, but you get 80%+ of the benefits. Worst case scenario, just get off it. DHt levels will recover within a few weeks. Don't believe the scaremongering, it's not backed up despite numerous lawsuits and countless studies.

The time to protect your hair is when it's in good shape. Hair loss isn't. it just "falling out", it's a slow, unnoticeable, miniaturization of follicles, making the hairs thinner and thinner until they disappear. By the time you notice it, you've lost a ton.

And if you think a transplant will save you, it won't. To make matters worse, no credible surgeon will do the procedure without making you get on finasteride.

I am not saying don't take Finasteride but be aware that side effects are possible even at micro doses.

I took .25mg EOD and got terrible side effects two days into treatment.
I tried to stick with it for two months but it was impossible to live my life normally.

I quit after two months despite seeing a decent improvement in hair quality.
I was lucky to fully recover from the side effects but not everyone is, so take it for what it's worth.

After full recovery from Finasteride, I tried micro dosing Minoxidil and got severe insomnia right from the start. Gave up days into treatment as insomnia was not improving.

My advice is, try it if you want, otherwise you won't know how it will affect you. Everyone reacts differently to various drugs and compounds.
You might be the lucky one and suffer few or no side effects.

@Ghoul is right, hair transplant won't save you. If you cannot tolerate Finasteride, don't even think about a hair transplant.

I’m no where near the stage of needing a hair transplant. If you look in my posts I made a thread about hair genetics. There you’ll see my hairline. I would say it’s as good as it’s gonna get. What are you thoughts on making a solution for fin? Mabey 0.5mg/ml and start at an extremely low dose. What side effects are you guys talking about when you say you couldn’t handle it?

Thanks for the wisdom! I'm in the same boat and getting ready to commit to another lifelong protocol :(

Whats the consensus on Dutasteride? From everything I read I get the vibe it's a bit safer?

Peter Attia did a hairloss treatment podcast recently (behind paywall, but i have a pdf with tldr's, attached) and this blurb scared me a bit:

```
Both finasteride and dutasteride can mask elevated PSA (prostate-specific antigen)
levels, which is important for detecting prostate cancer.
Patients using 5-alpha reductase inhibitors (like finasteride and dutasteride) must
have PSA levels monitored closely to detect changes that might otherwise be missed.
```

I didn't say you needed a hair transplant.

I did make a Fin solution at 0.125%/ml and couldn't sleep from day 1, so I gave up.

Side effects on oral FIN 0.25mg EOD:
-super dry eyes; like having a sand in them
-bad insomnia from day 1
-depression
-brain fog
-lethargy/fatigue
-anhedonia
-no libido

I thought these side effects would subside with time, so I kept taking FIN for 2 months but they did not.

....and another one chased off the only demonstrable, genuine long term solution that works.

Homemade oral suspensions are notoriously inaccurate, like expecting ann accurate dose by shaking a snow globe and taking a spoonful of the contents, and while the tablets are only absorbed at around a 65% rate; the liquids are closer to 100%.

Also, Finasteride is about the cheapest pharma drug you can buy @ $5 for 100 1mg tabs, so making your own oral suspension is impossible to justify.

.25 mg is virtually guaranteed to be side effect free, even 1mg is side effect free for the vast majority.

But since social contagion is a real thing, and the side effects are all capable of being psychologically self induced, you'll likely get them no matter what now that you've been infected with the mind virus.

It's no different from crashing estrogen with an AI. Careful use of small doses avoid the problem entirely, and even if it happens, within a month DHT is back to where it was.

Not one successful lawsuit against a doctor or manufacturer for causing permanent impairment, not one study demonstrating anything concrete. only self reported symptoms, despite tens of millions of users over 5 decades.

A lot easier to restore erections and libido than a damaged hairline, and whether your dick works or not won't matter anyway once your thinning hair and weird skull shape gives chicks the ick.

In my country fin is a prescription only medication. I can ask my doctor about it but I’m not sure I’ll qualify to use it. I can get it off ugl but in that case I will be making a solution.
