I'm sitting here at the gym I work at working hard messin' around on the computer, when I over hear some podink tell this dude not to do skull crushers because they are a waste of time. Now this dude leaves the gym more confused than ever. I asked this guy why the hell he told him that, and his response was " they suck and they dont work" I tried to be nice, but after he said that but he was being a dick, so I said "well judging by your triceps, or the rest of your body for that matter you dont know what your doing either" I asked him if he knew what a skull crusher was and he rambled off with some stupid bullshit. He had no clue. I told him I would get on here and get him the real deffinition of what a skull crusher is. Can anyone tell me what it is so he can read this and learn something? Thanks guys.

go have him do a search on google for either 'skullcrushers' or 'lying extensions' and he'll tons of sites he can check. he'll get descriptions, video clips, etc. oh, yeah, and tell him to get his head out of his ass so he can READ/SEE the exercise....

HAHA!!! He was standing right next to me when I read that! You know what that fucker just said?! he just said" I dont know why you get on this site. The only guys on here "use" because they dont know what the fuck they are doing and will never get any bigger on there own." I looked him over, (this guy is about 6' and about 160. I said I wont say anything because I work here, but get the fuck put of my face! Some peoples kids, man I tell you what.

Wait a min .....I thought a skull crusher was when a chick with a fat ass sits on your face.........I guess I need to hit google ....Thanx Chip

Oh the stupidity and ignorance of the masses. Skull crushes/tri extensions/french press/etc are great movements, but for me, they end up putting a lot of stress on my elbow joints. I like close grips, JM presses, and a few other movements.

agreed on the pain factor bob. i'm very strong on tri extensions and when i lift in the 6-10 rep range my elbows hurt too. the right one to be exact. i find that using the single dumbbell extension allows me to lift super heavy, relatively speaking, even in the 5 and 6 rep range, without the elbow problems. close-grip benches also hurt. i think it's the fact that two-handed movements lock your arms into a groove that one-hand don't.

While we are on the subject of tri's, are close grip benches good for tri's? my tri workout is 3 sets of close grip benches, and 4 sets skull crushers. The weight I use allows me do do eight reps with good form, with a couple more with a little cheating. Do you guys think this is enough sets for tri's, or should I be doing more? Thanks.

My right elbow is also the one that bothers me. The eccentric part of the movement is fine, its only the concentric that causes pain/discomfort. I dont have any problems with pressing movements.

same here bob. the eccentric part hurts. and what sucks is you have to lower the weight slowly, so as not to bounce and hurt the joint, and that makes you feel the pain longer.
