Sleep ...

Unit came in, it did have a nasal mask, just not the one I ordered. Set it up ... I ended up using it for 3:20 hours with .9 events per hour. I remember tearing it off my face at some point and going back to sleep .

I think I'm going to need a full mask, but I'm a face sleeper which should prove hard to do ... But I feel rested.

3 weeks in and I haven't got more than 4 hours. I wake up at 3.7 and just take it off and go back to sleep which is completely wrong but, I'm trying. Did you feel like you were suffocating when you first put it on?

The Cpap machine is a pain in the ass. I toss and turn in bed and break the seal and get blow back every night. On average I get 3 or 4 hours of sleep before taking it off.

I've slept worse since using this machine than before and I notice that now when I sleep without it, I hold my breath a lot more often.

This whole thing is a fucking disaster.

3.4 hours the first night
2.1 last night.

The mask sucks. The hose is on my face and I stomach sleep. Have another mask on the way.

I feel the suffocation part, I adjusted my ramp pressure from a 4 to a 7, that helps. I'm good at 8.

I think all the comfort is going to come down to a mask. The mask is what will make of break it .what do you use?

I used the resmed air plus 10 nasal pillows for the first 3 days because it was the least amount of crap on your face. You could side sleep. Problem is , no way in hell I could keep my mouth shut all night. I have to have all holes sucking wind. LOL. So, I went to the air fit 20 face mask. Not , bad but I are limited in how much u can side sleep without it coming off your face a bit and leaking air. I just ordered a memory foam pad to replace the silicon one provided. People swear it does the trick...I'm praying. I am just ready to get the 7 hrs that makes everyone feel like a million bucks the next day!

Same thoughts here. Before I looked forward to bed, not anymore. I lay there for the first hour with anxiety and heart flutter before I go to sleep for 3 then pull it off too. We got to do it man. I'm in a sleep apnea support group on Facebook and everyone on there says they couldn't live without it. There days are wrecked. Fall asleep, pass out, no energy. I think we caught it early and that is why we can pull it off , go back to regular pattern of sleep, drink a pre-workout caffeinated beg in the morning and we are good for the day. Those people I spoke of are us in 3-5 years with no treatment. Well, that's what I am guessing!

Check out the resperonics dreamware full face.

For people interested in checking out how they are doing on CPAP and have a compatible machine you can see how you are doing by downloading the data from the SD card if your machine has it using this software SleepyHead CPAP Review Software. Helped me dial in my settings better by seeing mask leaks at different setpoint and which types of apnea I was dealing with. A lot more data vs the summary on the machine itself

You are awesome!

No problem. Learned through trial and error. Been on Cpap way before doctor-supervised TRT as I was way overweight. Even got one of those blood oxygenation sensors to check if all is good on treatment but it's overkill and it doesn't work as well as I hoped. That piece of software did help me out a lot though so if you have any questions let me know.

Dam, after following this thread I dont know what sounds worse. Sleep apnea or dealing with the CPAP machine. I appreciate everyone's experiences, it's an eye opener.

My insurance only covers one mask a year I guess. I had two options. I wore them both for 5 minutes and then had to make a decision. Of course I made the wrong one. Went with the full face and should have tried just the nose one.

I guess there's a website called 1800CPAP.COM that has good deals. I haven't checked them out yet.

That app that was mentioned (myair) works pretty well. I set up an account last night then checked it this morning and I was given a 70/100 rating. Slept 5hrs and 59 minutes before I got annoyed and ripped the mask off lol

This says you can sleep in any position and may be worth the cash. I think I'm going to try it out soon.

This website also sells refurbished cpap machines and fairly affordable equipment, so if you don't have insurance you can still get one without selling a kidney for it.

The biggest thing I'm noticing more and more is that I wake up with a dry mouth. I'm sure my snoring is getting worse but like others have said, that mask can make sleep even worse if you cannot get used to it. I gave up on just the nasal piece. After almost 2 years of trying it on and off, fuck it all to hell!!! Time for a new mask to try

Thanks!
I got the nasal pillows in today, don't think I'll like it. I may order the full face and try it . It all interchanges with the head gear, just a $45 mask .

You will find that until your setting is at the desired pressure, you can open your mouth to breathe out as you inhale through your nose deeply because you feel like your suffocating. Once you reach the higher pressure, opening your mouth will cause air going in your nose to vacate your mouth. This is why it needs to remain shut. People go as far a taping it shut. I just couldn't get used to it. Good luck bud. I look forward to the update.
