Yea that’s what he did but the stupid blood place calls it like a “therapeutic phlebotomy” and it’s like 60$ every time! Fuckin insane so I was like my dr said he’ll just cancel the order and the nurse there tells me that once I have that one time on my record I can no longer donate without a dr order. It doesn’t make since it’s probably just in my area or some shit but it irritates me cause there’s nothing wrong with my blood. I need to look into my insurance covering tho I think they will

I would be happy to pay $60

Damn I can’t believe they actually told you to stop your trt
Especially since they are not your dr I don’t know what would compel them to give advice like stopping a dr prescribed med.
some times certain hospitals will accept the order from a dr I think they do it a little different tho

yeah, the hospital accepted the dr. order, but it wasnt cheap

my trt dr did write me a prescription(order) for therapeutic phlebotomy but no one would honor it

I am assuming that the doctor that prescribed it was a TRT clinic doctor??? Many medical institutions have about as much respect for TRT clinic doctors, as legit doctors have for chiropractors, fair or not.

TRT docs are considered quacks and shysters by many in the medical community.

This may not apply here, but again I suspect that the folks refusing to honor this, may have been doing so based on the script coming from a TRT clinic. I have interacted with quite a few folks in the medical community who lack respect for TRT docs, and do not consider them credible.

Unfortunately quite a few TRT clinics have earned this reputation with their practices.

Its an urologist that prescribes me trt, but the local blood institute wouldn’t accept me. I haven’t tried Red Cross yet. My rbc definitely runs high though. I donated and 2 days later went and had blood drawn for labs and my rbc was in range, but high range

What's the difference between the local blood institutions and Red Cross? Are they not the same for our needs? I thought donating blood was free lol? That's a serious question too... I wasn't being a smart ass. I'm about to have to go donate very soon and need to know where the hell to go.

Most blood banks will only only allow reg donations every 6 months and double platelets every year. Also I believe if HCT or RBC is too high blood banks wont accept. If they do they will be calling you every 5 months because the make money from selling your blood (some actually pay). Therapeutic phlebotomy is for people who can donate at the banks, IMO.

For me it’s from a reputable endo in my area who has me on it. But I always had been doing it for free as a donation then I got some new ink and they told me I couldn’t donate for a year and flagged my name lol and I was like well fuck I can’t go a year without donating so my dr wrote me the order and now I’m forever a paying customer. the blood place here has no problem tho doing it I just was upset I have to pay every time now but damn 240$ is steep I’d be at home with my own set up lol

You can do double reds twice per year.

I have a blood bank near me who accepts therapeutic prescriptions from my doc. When I first started trt my blood was way too thick. Doctor gave a prescription and brought it down. Went weekly for a few weeks till it got back in line.

I mean... they are honestly silly not to. A bag of donated blood sells from 200-800+ to hospitals. Depending on demand.

Where I am at in the middle of the country, you can donate blood every 60 to 90 days (I am not sure which, but definitely no more than 90 days).

The blood bank here is VERY aggressive at calling and texting and emailing you, reminding you that you are eligible to donate again, basically RIGHT ON THE DAY that you can donate again. Like @Roger rabbit said, it's a business for them, and a very lucrative one. Which is why I get annoyed when they use the emotional ploy of guilting you into donating, as if they are just doing this to help the local community.

Supposed to help with blood pressure but other than that I don’t think it does. Beet root concentrate seems to be the only natural supplement that will lower hematocrit
I’ll have to look into it cause I wanna try something else to help so I don’t have to go so often
