Steroid Exemptions for Testosterone Replacement Therapy Rare in MMA

Keith Kizer, the executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC), is concerned that this has created the perception that Nevada indiscriminately grants steroid exemptions that allow MMA fighters to use testosterone as part of testosterone replacement therapy. “I think there’s an impression among the general public that everybody’s getting exemptions for [testosterone replacement therapy]. I can’t speak for other states, but for us it’s probably about one a year asking and it’s 50/50 whether they’ll get approved.”
