Steroids and Menopause

How appealing is that subject line..huh? I searched the forum but didn't find a thread dedicated to this subject. No one has called it officially yet for me but it's been over a year since I've had a period (Sorry guys, I know men read here too. I'll be sure to post about make-up and shoes next to round this out). I'm on the pill but it's more of a way to add estrogen to my system than anything else. In my early 40s I started with perimenopausal symptoms: night sweats, changes in sex...physically and libido stuff. I've read concerns of those still of breeding age and steroids but have read only a little regarding menopausal/older women and steroids and it's been positive in regards to its effects on symptoms. @GearGodess I believe in my first post you mentioned the field of possible supplements opens a little when women are older? I don't want you to have to write a dissertation on this :) but if you have links or resources I'll happily read on my own. I've googled and not found much, but I'm really very curious about finding more and what would be good options and why.

Thanks!

Well.... to be quite honest, adding TEST is your answer.... many doctors pump women with estrogen but they fail to realize that it is estrogen that causes all those bad symptoms... add as little as 15mg of Sustanon every 5-7 days and you will feel like a million bucks... or do test prop at 50mg a week and do every 3-5 days

I know there were studies done and would have to try and dig it all up but it's going to end up the new treatment for women and menopause

I have a friend who's obgyn told her low libido is normal and it's not important for women to orgasm during sex or alone. She went on to tell her to have sex even though she has no sex drive or response. The retard argued with her about TRT and wouldn't prescribe even test gel. But she won't blink an eye when prescribing estrogen, though. People fucking freak out when women+test are mentioned....or even test in general. My doc is the same way. Freaks out when test is brought up.

You

Since the many menopausal symptoms are the result of ovarion dysfunction what follows is LOW estrogen and progesterone levels.

Women "compensate" thru the use of adrenal estrogens and the conversion of testosterone into E-2 via aromatase.

However for some the amount of E-2 produced is NOT sufficient to ameliorate the symptoms of menopause.

Although some of the symptoms will fade over time (hot flashes) some do not or may even worsen
(hair loss and vag dryness) over time.

Conventional therapy involves the use of either estrogen, or progesterone AND estrogen. The latter combination therapy is generally preferred bc the risk of endometrial CA is diminished when compared to E-2 alone.

More recently TT supplementation is being used by some OB/GYNS but understand the relative risk of endometrial CA and the bony protective effect compared to E-2/PG therapy is largely unknown.

Consequently bc the protective endometrial effect of PG is lost with isolated TT therapy
the OB/GYNs I know will add PG.

There is also an inherently greater risk of developing masculinizing features with TT therapy.

Nonetheless you may be surprised how many OB/GYNS are now willing to use TT at least in an adjunctive capacity try asking yours OP.

Best of luck

Rocco the dog and I have an entire conversation about this subject...I'll check and if he doesn't mind I'll send you an invite....everything in Dr Jims post is correct. my wife began at your age and her life changed dramatically by 46 or so...no libio , dryness, mild depression, lethargic, bad bad hotflashes etc...
We spent months looking into the problem. we had no health insurance, so we tried our own hrt.
she used test e at 15-20 mg/wk all symptoms disappeared and it was for her like she was 25 again.
she has been off it since June 2015, every symptom has returned and the hot flashes are the worst.
she will start back in approx 2 weeks and does not want to ever come off it again.
Rocco started doing research into the progesterone option and effects also.
I'll get u an invite out to our discussion...

THERE IS A DOWNSIDE TO TEST HRT FOR WOMEN....I can get onto that with u later. it's mostly dosage related.

For those OB/GYN who continue to remain IGNORANT a refresher article or two is all thats usually required and here are TWO!

Once confronted with the evidence, that almost ALL OB/GYNs are at least somewhat familiar with most are willing to use TT as adjunctive HRT, IME. Give your docs a chance as you need to be followed !
