How can you claim something is evil without controlled studies? Oh wait these are the same people that would demonize saturated fats as the root of all health problems.

It's evil because it's immoral. It's the result of arbitrary and capricious rules of behavior.

You see this a lot with religious morality.

Is premarital sex really bad? It's only sinful/bad because it's immoral.

Something may not be intrinisical "bad". But make up a rule and voila!
