STOCK UP: Don't say you weren't warned! (US)

I have to be honest: I seriously think making a man-to-man, open-handed slap a legal non-offense and un fire-able action would make the world a much better place. This would put some serious, much needed rails on modern mouths that run unimpeded and amuck due to our camera-armed, sue-happy culture. There's no accountability anymore, which causes immeasurable mental and emotional strife for those of us who act like men, yet have to constantly put up with douchebags, jerks, idiots and assholes for fear of losing everything.

And NO, I'm not on Tren.

So, @Ghoul, am I right in thinking that maybe there was a mix up by some, here, of federal (the info your brought, thank you) vs state sentencing?

This is exactly what happened. Dirthand didn’t seem to know there is a significant difference in how state and federal sentencing is done. The prosecution and judges cannot get around sentencing guidelines in federal cases like they can in state ones. Dirthand was absolutely right in regards to state sentencing, but this is a federal case we are discussing and they are very different in how they’re done.

Excellent, thank you.
So, in the end Ghoul had provided the correct info.
Cheers

It's was actually not about this.. for me anyway. I just made a statement that I often wonder how Mr. Ghoul can be so sure of how the the criminal justice system works for people with prior criminal history if he himself has never personally had any experience.... For me it was never about steroids or sentencing guidelines..when you go in front of a judge or at the mercy of a procecutor it's different for those who have have felony records or on parole.. I absolutely agree with his assessment that someone getting caught with gear who has no priors would at most get probation and a fine.. but do t speak for the minority of people you are not..Either way i care less to argue about it.

Oh I wasn’t arguing with you. I’m sorry if I mistook what happened. I know people with similar experiences you describe. Some of the people I grew up with and consider family were literally haunted by the criminal justice system over bullshit that didn’t matter, and it would follow them around endlessly and grossly. A buddy of mine got popped at age 16 smoking weed in his parents back yard when cops came to serve his mom a red light camera ticket. Felony for the weed and pipe. 4.5gpa student, was going to I make it big somewhere, and after not a single school would take him. The first felonies made him get picked out of crowds or pulled over for nothing so that cops could fishing expedition to find fucking anything to screw him over with. One time he no shit got a noise violation for his music being too loud. Ended up in and out of jail. Homeless. Ruined his life. That shit is real and fucked. State criminal judges are given insane powers some places to fuck people over.

You did not bother me at all with what you said at all!! I just meant that I do not want to argue with anyone Mr. Ghoul included.. I'm not trying to be right or "bring the facts" just my personal experience and others I know.. Then I just thought I would remind mr.ghoul when he was trying to be an internet bully tward me it would probly be a different story in person.. who know he could gaddam monster and hand my ass to me.... either way what he'd have to go through to get the job done would not be something he'd care to go through twice..there would be a mutual respect formed..

Dirthand,

In the federal system the sentencing guidelines take into account prior criminal history with a points system, so it increases the punishment but within a predictable range.

For sure.. thanks brother. In my experience Low level possession charges will not get picked up and procecuted by the feds anyway.. then wouldn't waste their time with such.. It would be a local or a state level procecution. Thanks for the insight. Nowadays state laws are ever changing with sentencing guidelines, enhancements, I can't speak to other states but mine is set up for revolving door. Just last year they change a list of crimes of where a person was eligible for parole after serving 25 and 50 percent of their sentence to 80 and 100 percent and did not change the sentencing guidelines..

State level is a crapshoot, and every state is different.

Oregon? It's probably not even a crime.

Some Deep South states? Oh, boy, you might as well be Pablo Escobar.

What you describe about your state and parole is a movement that is going on in several states.

Respect bro. I always like seeing you post.
