Stretching

I was just wondering what everybodys views on stretching were... ie, when, at what times, stuff like that.
Also i am having problems with calf cramps. Seriously, it has been impossible for me to train them. Any ideas?

I almost never stretch. Im sure there is a middle-point where stretching is beneficial without being detrimental, but as long as I am flexible enough to use the range of motion I want, then I dont feel I have any need to stretch. The only muscle I do stretch a little bit is calves. If I dont, then they have a tendency to really cramp up and be painful.

If you want to stretch, I would do it post-workout.

I've never felt the need to do any pre workout stretching either. Although, this foam rolling thing sure is getting popular. I've heard a number of knowledgable people advocate it. Most studies that I've read indicate that preworkout stretching is more potentially hazardous then beneficial. I always to a quick hammy stretch post workout though cause they're prone to cramping.

I stretch before my workouts. If I don't, then I can't squat for shit. I absolutely MUST stretch my calves, hammies, glutes and other muscles involved on top of doing several sets of BW only squats to get my shit working right. Even after all of that, it takes me until my first working set to really be able to hit the proper depth.

Are you currently running gear? Tren has really given me some cramps....especially in the calve and ab area.

I'm with Grizz on the pre-squat routine in order to get to the desired depth comfortably and to get the knees warmed up.

no gear yet... still a virgin :) Definetly thinkin about it though, been doing my research for a while now, bout 2 years and i just turned 21 and didnt want to get on it when i was too young, (i was hopin i had maybe another inch or two in me... never happend though) Anyone think i am still to young??? I guess i just want to be ready. Ive read a decent amount into first cycles but i am mostly concerned with side effects, ie gyno, hair. Also wouldnt want water weight, would like to keep most of my gains and stay lean/shredded. (its a big wish, i know)
