stuck at the bottom of a squat

On my 30 rep, of three sets. on # 29 felt a little something beginning at the inside and just above my left knee. "one more" deeper squat. All the way down!!
I just start moving to go up and in the groin/hamstring it doesnt want to go. bound up. No spotter so I pushed through it. Felt like the muscle was caught on something off to the side if this makes any sense. and pops back over it into place. Not a ton of pain but i feel it. pressess were OUT for the day. managed exstensions with care but still 30 reps of 180. came home and got in the hot tub. gonna be feeling this one for a while. also i am nursing a medial tendonitis on my right elbow from over use on too heavy cross over and overhead curls late last week. been using an elbow band on that one and checking things off the list I have to avoid like high cable cross over and curls with any twist motion. Pressing motion is doable, all others am trying to find a neutral grip to not fire up that muscle group.

would you a. cortizone shot, or b. gh shot either with ice heat. and how long should i lay off or go light. I dont want to hear what you are going to say.

With my leg, one of the trainers thought it was a dehydration cramp from running sooo much creatine and not enought water. I have been upping my rep max every week. and making great gains now this!! same options as above are available for this issue as well. You know I want it to be fixed by the morning. lol

some specialists are saying 3 months off and I cant wrap my head around that.

Fella that sounds like a CLASSIC example of meniscal entrapment and is in fact why deep squats, especially using a "heavy weight", are to be avoided. Are you still having pain about your knee joint?

Do you have any knee swelling or tenderness around the inner or outer aspect? Do "knee extensions" cause the pain to return? If the post workout area involves a muscle group heat is usually a better option than cold.

However if the involved area is a joint cold is a better choice since it reduces the swelling and swelling reduces recovery time because it often limits ROM.

THREE months of, without a diagnosis or formal evaluation I think NOT EVEN!

Corticosteroids are likened to a double edged sword, since even though you get two razor blades for the price of one, if your not cautious while using one edge the other may cut you, mate.

The fact is the efficacy of intra-articular corticosteroid injections are based on their ability to soften cartilage. This softening occurs after even a single injection. However the softening also reduces the pain because it reduces the friction between juxtaposed tissues such as; bone on cartilage, cartilage on cartilage or cartilage on surrounding soft tissue, etc.

Ultimately however this softening can predispose the treated tissue to a reduced capability to tolerate shear and/or compressive forces.

The net effect is an increased frequency of "complete tears" for those athletes whom don't complete a full course of rehab or in those instances where the over zealous physician injects a particular joint more than roughly 2-3 times per year. (There are several exceptions for this estimate but they do not apply to young athletes with otherwise normal joints, IMO)

No the knee joint is fine. No swelling anywhere. Still a little pain this morning when climbing stairs or sitting down or standing up. There was only slight pain with the extensions. I would localize the pain as more or less muscle belly pain as far as the leg goes. The pain radiates proximally and distally toward the joints but no joint invovement. At this point Im more concerned about my "golfers elbow" issue. Many times Ive had tenderness on both elbows but never any sharp pain. A guy I work with has been dealing with symptoms for months.

As far as the cortico goes. Ive had joint injections in my lifetime but not these particular joints. I have a doc friend that is a fan of im injection in the area of the injury, just for the anti inflamatory effects just for the reasons you stated. I just wanted a third opinion. He doesnt lift and he is the one who suggested three months off. I have had a complete rupture but it was during a game of tennis of all things.

Fella your confusing the easily confused, lol!
Lets finish the SQUAT issue first. Where EXACTLY does it HURT?
Ya know something like, 4 inches above my knee cap (patella) on the back side, would be most useful with the intent of said info for me, to help you help yourself!

:)

okay sorry. I have the tendency to do that. The pain is a doll A from about 3 inches above ,the knee to about 3 inches below the growing on the inside thigh. and it's even all along the message.that is the area that caught

more specifically, I think I can pinpoint it down to the Gracilis right at the point it crosses the adducter magnus.

So are you liking the diagnosis of a simple muscle cramp and nothing torn? Been in hot tub three times since the injury. getting better. I was trully affraid I had partially torn something. Im an older lifter and try and do warm up excersises before hitting the heavy stuff but I pushed it last night. very little streaching and only did 10 reps of 100 #s before putting on my hevy weights. Felt real good until the random idea of going to parallel with the floor and then bad things happened. again i mostly feel pain going up flight of stairs or down. a bit more in a leg curl. My plan is to rest for at least a week and go light with high reps for a couple weeks with lots of anti imflamatories on board. Well I would like to know, some compounds are more beneficial to tendons and others are not. can you make a suggestion what I could be running that might be a strengthener of tendons or at least play a protective roll. right now I feel my muscles are growing so large and hard and are keeping the tendons under a high shear load all the time. I see now why my thougt process is distracted. this time of night I play on line poker and get quite distracted when some real money is on the line.

I am sorry. its an addiction. :D
I would like to separate out my elbow injury to discuss it in detail as I think it will have the longest refractory period. Im looking for work arounds right now its not in my blood to lay off.

Well its been weeks now and I can still feel a little strain. I quit squats since the injury and lightened up on presses. Made it back though. Pressing 450 w/o pain :)
