SymBiotics (U.S. domestic)

just got done filtering half my stock. Holly shit you’re in for a long day, it sucks lol. The worst part isn’t even filtering - it’s drawing everything up into the syringe prior to filtering. I didn’t use a caulk gun as I was just using a 20ml syringe 1 vial at a time. It’s 1 little drip at a time after that, but wasn’t too bad doing it all by hand. I had 1 filter start leaking from the needle end. Thinking that my needle gauge was too small and there was too much pressure (Had a vent needle in as well). I wouldn’t go with anything smaller than a 21g next time.

Also just to update, I was able to draw up the contaminants that were floating around in the vial so they definitely can make their way up through a needle. The filter caught it all and holly shit was it dirty....
Sounds like alot of work man. Maybe Sym should pay his victims for their time.
So there are filtered needles correct? Like it filters as you inject? Might double down on the safety measures as I’m too cheap to just throw it out.
No worries, @SymBiotics and the Meso resident surgeon say they're sterile so you're good either way.

As someone who has never brewed and not having a clear understanding of the brewing process, I'm wondering why his gear was so dirty... Did he not filter it? Or was it something else..?

I'd rather dump it all and just buy better gear, but it's your time.

Nothing about this lab inspires me with confidence. His claim that the contamination is sterile was just...what? Sending out replacements with more floaters is just fucked up. So much for tightening his QA.

I'm at a loss as to how this guy still has dick-riders after all of this.

No clue. I’ve just started researching and learning the process. The strands could be from his filter or from the autoclave bags he used I guess among many other things. The black specs I have 0 clue. Maybe the vials weren’t clean prior to autoclaving and he never bothered to clean them? Mayve he didn’t sterilize/clean the stoppers and they were dirty and whatever was on them fell into the vials? Or maybe it happened during the process of transferring the oils into vials under his flow hood, maybe his lab and the air wasn’t as clean as we all thought?

now that I’m thinking about it. We never really re-vetted the guy after he “upgraded” and moved his lab. His Initial setup looked professional, but who knows what it ended up moving to. It could have been a shed for all we know.

If I had to take a guess, he was blowing filters and not noticing, as well as not properly rinsing his vials prior to sterilizing them. Autoclaving doesn't remove particles -- you have to give the vials a good iso rinse beforehand.

But I'm no brew expert. This is all conjecture.

He claims it was fuzz from the autoclave wraps. But it could be anything.

He’s not coming back anyway so the dickriders are going to have to find a new dick. Or continue to hold on and email him privately. That never works out well though.

Plot twist. Stan and Sym are the same. They bow out in a blaze. The crippled son comes in and takes over as a rebranded lab to later get caught doing donuts in his Dodge Challenger in front of his lab. Jessie the apprentice starts a competing lab and runs it out of his newly acquired car wash.

Okay at first you had me intrigued, but now you have my attention

That would mean a failed source rocking the fish is dishonest? Hmmmmmm.
