I know some of you said you will take time off when your body's tells you. But how many would take time off during a cycle if your body is tell you too. Or would you just push thru until your cycle is over and then rest.

cycle or not, if you have to deload, you have to deload... you can make it up by being completely rested after that week.

think about it, would you rather be working at 50% or less the entire cycle, or take a week off and run at full capacity? if you see the big picture, you'll see that it's a much better option in the long run

During my first cycle last year I took a week off bench once and a week off squats two different times. I still did what I could during that time as long as it didn't further aggravate what was bothering me. Still added around 50lbs on each of those lifts in that sixteen weeks.

The way I look at it I could either take the week off, get better and keep going or keep pushing and potentially end up out of commission for weeks or months.

That's where I'm at now, my body is telling me enough, I need a break. I'm 4 weeks into one but I haven't taken any time off in over a year. I work 60hrs a week, 12hrs a day. Hot ass factory, 2 hrs round trip to work. Plus my wife is having surgery today, actually at the hospital now, so I figured why not take a break.

Take a week. Eat like a king, sleep as much as you can, even if it's an extra nap here or there. Baby yourself. You will come back feeling great. Sometimes a deload or a brief period off can help break through a sticking point for both strength and muscle growth.

Take a break, on or not. I had plateaued for 5 months when I took a one week break. Started hitting natty PRs after 3 weeks. It's a marathon, not a sprint and the juice in your system will prevent you from going catabolic while you chillax, eat well and get your go back on. D

I am actually on deload week.. doing everything 60-70% of my 1RM. I can always tell within 6-8 weeks my body telling me it's time.. slow recovery, feeling tired/not motivated, and unable to increase rep. I've taken a week or two off without touching the weights.. But found out-it's hard to get back into my groove staying away from the gym :)
