Telegram CEO arrested, facing multiple charges

What's everyone thoughts on this?

Seems he was arrested and booked on a long list of charges related to criminal activity and unlicensed cryptology services

Could this set a new precedent for other "channels" of communication, particularly encrypted email?

It could also set a new precedent where instead of (or in addition to) holding the users responsible for wrongdoing, they'll start arresting and charging the leadership of the company?

There could be more to the story. Maybe France wanted backdoor access into the platform, or maybe it was politically motivated, but still... alarming nonetheless

Its tyranny. Telegram is in my opinion the only secure messenger. They don’t cooperate at all with authorities nor should they.

Looks like they might be forced to now, idk.

Let's see how the events play out over the next few weeks.

France won't let him leave the country either. It's getting spicy

Nobody is anon/pseudonymous on TG because they totally make it impracticable to achieve technically. That fact, coupled with the apparently widespread illegal shit on there, makes it a veritable goldmine for governments. I think they want carte blanche, keys, backdoor, etc.

I'm on TG and it seems totally boring to me. But I think it's all users from former Soviet republics on there. I chat with one guy, my web developer from Ukraine on it.

It's incredibly powerful! Their bot API is crazy, very cool. Their translations are seamless. It's by far the best social media app technically and it isn't even close.

I'd love to receive some leads to some good channels for AAS on TG that aren't just related to sales/vending, though!
