Weird, it's showing up he's tagged now, but not when i was typing it.
The tag function behaves strangely for me in Chrome.
I am honestly more excited about the movie than I was with the books as a much younger man.
The trailers have been highly promising.
I do wonder if some of the iconic lines will make it into the movie "forgotten the face of your father.." etc..

I'm sure they will. Much easier to fit those on than most of the story. They've got to appeal to the diehard fans, after all.
I think Jay got temp banned though. Hopefully not for long though.

J was banned? Why? Anywhoo, dude everything ive seen in the dark tower trailers look great. Initially I didn't think the actor they chose(no matter who) would be able to live up to the mental construct of "gunslinger" i created from the books but Idris Elba seems to look and act the part to a T. The clips ive seen look phenomenal but ill reserve judgment until i see the movie. Hope you're all having a Good Friday!
I got the Dark Tower books and they were quite a great read. Will check it out myself.

I'm on board regardless of the reasons they chose him. If he owns the role he's Roland to me. I'm more worried about doing the books justice than anything else. I'm told there's going to be series and maybe more movies and they'll include all the characters.
Didn't realize you read the books. My favorite series ever.

IF he was here he would say he's feeling real iffy the more details come out. Excited theres going to be a tv show, but not sure how they get all those books in one movie. Still gonna see it, but tempering expectations.

Same. I'm trying to look at it as something different from the books. Being that it technically takes place after the books should help. I joined a Dark Tower group and have been reading a lot of opinions on it. I'm a little confused because on one hand it seems like they're trying to wrap things up in one movie and on the other the director says he hopes to make more movies. Also, it's confirmed Idris Elba will be in the series, which I believe covers the story of Wizard and Glass, like the flashback part. I'm not 100% on that, but i feel like i read that somewhere.
I haven't watched any clips or previews. I think I'm just going to go see it the day it comes out and see how I feel. Did you see they're going to make his eyes and guns glow when he's in "gunslinger mode?" Not sure how i feel about that. Seems like they're trying to Hollywood it up. I don't know, I just hope they don't screw it up too much. King supports it, but of course he is and the track record for his books being poorly turned into movies is legendary.

Thats the part I cant understand. I dont know how they make one movie. I know the tv show is supposed to be mostly wizard and glass and the other flashbacks. The project has a lot of good people attached, so theres that. Also Ive seen no mention of anyone else but jake. No susan, etc.
The director did an AMA on Reddit the other day. I can't find it, but here's a supposed summary.

Apparently the movie covers book one and three, but that makes no sense with only him and Jake. That Facebook group I'm on showed some of his answers from Reddit and he said if he gets the green light there will be more movies and he will incline Eddie, Susannah and Oy. Seems like if they wanted to green light to actually happen they'd stay more true to the story though. I'll see if I can dig up more from the AMA.

Damn. I gotta admit, the cinematography of the movie looks great though. Visually I have a feeling its going to impress, which is hard when you really think about the books and how much is involved.
Also I wonder if theyll be able to use some of the stuff from the book that was from other media (like sneetches). Im betting when they announced the movie the asking price went up.

I'm sure it'll impress visually. Those that haven't read it will probably enjoy it more because we have such high expectations for it.
He talks about the sneetches on the Reddit thing. Says he plans on including it all eventually.
