I see a lot os solid guys around here, I doubt it will get out of control, everyone looks out for one an other, and that is hard to find.

I think this is an awesome idea @bigrobbie . I too am afraid of sea and hate the thoughts of being a merchant marine. But on a serious note it would be a great way for us brothers to get to know each other better and just shoot the shit. This board is tight already and dudes look out for each other but this tool would build a stronger and tighter bond with each other which will make us stick up for each other more. I just hate the thought of sources using it to sucker newbs in but i really like this idea. Lets make it happen!

You mentioned sources basically SPAMMING the shoutbox. I have personally seen this only once at TID I think it was.

The beauty of the shoutbox is that its easily viewed by everyone and if a SPAMMER does start posting his sales pitch he only has a short time before he is banned.

The one I saw...the spammer posted his link over and over about 15 times he got flamed and within 7-8 minutes he was banned...it was actually fun to flame an obvious scamming ass as much as we could until administration finally swung the BAN HAMMER!

So even if you have a bullshit guy on shoutbox you know as soon as the line is crossed and/or rules broken he can be yanked!

It's nothing to worry about...plus shoutboxes are just plain amusing!

I think we should make a distinction between a "shoutbox" and a true chatbox with chatrooms and 1-to-1 chat.

A shoutbox is easy to add.

Full-featured chatrooms have more functionality but also greater server load.

What would you like to see?

Chatrooms sound like places where perverts congregate.

Regarding shoutboxes, I hate the damned things. All that meaningless chatter quickly flying by is a distraction and unless you're staring at it continuously, you'll miss any comments directed at you. I thought shoutboxes were a thing of the past, anyway.

I'm on several boards and most of them have shoutbox and its used heavily. I use em like a status update when I log in. The good thing is everyone online can see that I've logged on once I post "hello guys" or something. This is helpful as someone may be wanting to send me a PM or whatever...plus, as I said they are just fun.

As a final reply....most shoutboxes have a way to hide or expand it...so if its a distraction you just collapse it!

I think shout boxes are pretty meaningless and destroy the purpose of what forums really are because alot of information gets lost during its transition in the course of the day.

Im against chat boxes.

As far as donating, millard i would donate but then again i refuse bit coin, and i refuse to learn it aswell. If you could add an alternative method would be great for many others aswell.
