The prepping thread SHTF

Don't focus too much on toilet paper, that's like what noobs get when SHTF. Obviously it's nice to have a stash, but I mean you'll quickly realize you can use other things to clean up with.

Another starting place is what are you prepping for, and what is the likelihood?

Are you in an area with snow or floods? Forest fires in the winter? Proximity to nuclear power plant? On San Andreas fault line? Have you done excessive deals with mafia or yakuza? Will Covid vaccine start the zombie outbreak?

All those have different needs and different likelihood. Last summer I almost had to evacuate for fires, 2 winters ago I had no power or water for a week.

Those situations let me test some of my peeps in completely different ways.

I believe nolva, clomid and HCG should be part of your prep stash for when you run out of Test. Bottoming out while trying to survive would suck tremendously.

I found it, it's called ThyroShield and you take it during a nuclear disaster for your thyroid.
I think that’s potassium iodide? Lugol’s iodine has the same stuff in a liquid, I got some after Fukushima. Iodine deficiency will mess with thyroid hormones too, just don’t overdo it.

The thing with the iodine is, you have to know when you're going to be exposed to the radiation, and take it 15mins before hand.

Well fuck.

Europe is looking pretty fucking tense. Putin has the Russian nuclear arsenal on "high alert". This is likely just a lame attempt to distract people from his crimes in Ukraine, but nevertheless. Everyone is wondering: is this the start of World War 3?

And here most of you are. Just woefully unprepared. Barely enough food stocked up to last a week, maybe 2, before you have to go to the grocery store again. Also lets say Russia commits a cyber attack against a utility company to take down the grid (which they have done before and will certainly do again), how the hell will you COOK the food you need to eat?

MREs are an option, but holy fucking hell they are expensive and honestly they're fucking disgusting, too (lol). There's "ration bars", which provide 1000-2000 calories in a single little bar and if you eat the entire bar you get 57g fat, 21g protein, and 153g carbs. Not exactly macro friendly. And forget about maintaining a physique or muscle, if you eat under 80 grams of protein per day (some argue it should be 100) for an extended period of time, your brain will start to get fucked up. We need those essential amino acids to survive; they are precursors to neurotransmitters, which literally allow our brain to function. Animal models have shown drastic deleterious effects to the brain by low protein diets.

So what can you do? What can you do to quickly prepare to bug in. (As opposed to bug out, which is where you take your backpack filled with everything you deem essential and strike out into the wilderness or try to travel to your bug out location such as a cabin in the woods or bunker if you're one of the lucky few).

Well, RULE #1 is that you don't fucking tell anyone that you are prepping. It makes you a target. They talk to their coworkers, or their friends and then you become a target. Keep it a secret.

Here's my suggestion for those who want to have food security for several months to a year. It's not as hard as you think.

First off, assume that you won't have power, so you need things you can eat without cooking. Also you must be extremely careful with fire. If people see or smell smoke they could hone in on your position and decide they want to hang out at your house too...and that usually doesn't end well.

So stock up on the following:
1. Buy a micron water filter. I am a big fan of the Survivor Filter Pro Water Purification System for Survival. It is a hand-pump filter, which is way better than a gravity filter. Ideally you have running water or a pond or lake close enough to your house that you could go out and fill a few 5 gallon buckets of water safely. It doesn't hurt to have some Water Purification Tablets on top of that.
2. Buy a couple hundred pounds of quick cooking oats. This is a good carbohydrate that you can eat simply by soaking in water overnight. No boiling or heat required, so it is a very stealthy food to eat.
3. Stock up on extra virgin olive oil (my preference). This is a calorie-dense food that is very good for you and very tasty. Get a dozen or more liters of Kirkland Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Your brain NEEDS fat to function. You MUST eat some fat in order for the brain tissue not to degrade. Can also get some extra coconut oil, avocado oil, etc. If nothing else just to mix it up a bit. Peanut butter is a great one that have around, if nothing else to e
4. Protein: IMO just buy a bunch of fucking whey protein and/or whey protein isolate. Just a ton of it. Get like a hundred pounds of the shit if you can. Get different flavors if you're into that shit. Mix it in with your oats along with a tablespoon or two of the fat of your choice.
5. Some kind of sweetener. Stevia is good. Splenda is great because it is SO sweet per mg that you can buy a big bag and it will last way longer than sugar.
6. Buy several big bottles of multi-vitamins to fill in nutrient gaps.

Worst case, you just stocked up on a bunch of food and you can eat it slowly over the next year or two. Like all of this stuff is pretty much totally non-perishable, so you don't really need to worry about these things going bad or anything.

That covers your food gaps in a pinch. Not the most fun. If you can pick up some cinnamon and cloves and cardamom, etc., then you can at least mix up the flavors a bit. But between oats, some kind of fat, protein powder, and multi-vitamins, you can survive for a long time and actually remain pretty fucking healthy. If you are someone who has never prepped or stocked up on anything before, then that's what I would start with just because, worst case scenario, you totally can survive just off those things.

I would also say obviously you want to make your house (if you are bugging in) look abandoned/undesirable. Stock up on guns and ammo, crossbows and bolts, if you can get a suppressor that's great so if you have to shoot you don't blow your ears out!!

That's the super beginner bug-in guide for those who need to prep in a pinch. Obviously you can get way more fancy with it. I recommend everyone learn to cook with a Lodge Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven, as it's super versatile and can be used over a fire. You can build a DIY smokeless fire pit which can eliminate the smoke/visiblity issue (you may still need to worry about scents drifting on a windy day...when hungry people smell food over a fire they will sneak up, snipe you, and take your food. Without a fucking doubt.

Note: bugging out is COMPLETELY different and that is not something most people should do especially during the beginning of the SHTF scenario when everyone is going crazy. Bugging out is much better suited for those in the suburbs or city, where civilization will devolve into violence, thievery, and rape VERY quickly and you just need to get the fuck out before you wind up in a situation where gangs rise up to take over territory and do whatever they want with the people who live within those territories.

Personally, I will not be leaving my house at all for the first 2 or 3 weeks of a true SHTF scenario. I'll be boarding up by windows and reinforcing my doors and locks. But I live out in the country with a stable water supply in a highly defensible location.

Obviously the bigger your family the harder it will be (especially if you have young children or babies) and the more supplies you'll need. Hopefully we never run into this situation, but it's getting closer and closer to top of mind given the geopolitical situation with Putin being an evil fucking asshole to the rest of the rest of the world. Hopefully this shit settles down and Putin's evil ass can shut the fuck up! Until then...good luck to everyone. Maybe this writeup will help someone, even just a little. I hope so. Let me know if you have any questions.

Also, obviously there are also other options for food prepping. Infinite options practically. But as far as cost effectiveness and the best way to prep FAST, oats/fat/whey simply can't be beat IMO. But there's also tons of canned goods and jarred foods and stuff that will keep for a super long time that make great prep foods:)

1. I have sawyer mini and katadyn pocket pro
2. I did have about 75lbs of oats, need to stock up as I'm around 12lbs. I do have around 100 lbs of rice though.
3.Stocked up on coconut oil
4.I need to stock up on more tuna, but do have canned chicken, beef, and pork
5. I have swerve sweetener, though need more.
6.Did have vitamins, but decided to go with amazing grass super greens.

A proper lighter is important. I have an exotac lighter. Way better than zippo. I left it for months. Went to light it, and lit right away. A zippo would be bone dry by then.

Let's see
Enough pew pew and rounds to arm a small militia.

But no Food and water

Guess I'm taking people's shit or trading when sit goes down.

Flipping a coin lol...

Any one on here taking any weapons clinics recently, would like some urban warfare based classes...
