I don't know that they, the monuments, are necessarily racist in and of themselves nor do I think they are somehow more racist under Trump... I don't really think any of them really deserve to be immortalized in stone but I'm not going to cry if they stand or go.

The only reason they could be suggested as "more racist" under Trump is because Trump emboldens and gives a voice to white supremacists.

I agree with you 100% on statues. Shouldn't be built. Those who know of the event will respect and remember it in their own ways. And those who would protest the statue probably wouldn't even know about the event. Win win.

Also, it's a waste of land. Like graveyards. Visiting my friends graves isn't a determining factor in my remembrance of them. Our times and relationship is how I remember them.

I would have agreed at one time... I'm sitting in Europe right now though, I've seen some of the most beautiful status and monuments of my life recently. It shows an interesting view of culture and architecture that America doesn't hold a candle to. It's a shame there aren't more at home.

I read an article in paper the other day how during the revolutionary war they tore down statues of the then king and turned them into bullets for the war. That's pretty bad ass.

Hopefully they turn these statues into weight plates or something useful.

Another fun fact, I saw about 200 naked European chicks at a spa yesterday... It was.. beautiful. I distinctly remember in highschool talking to my friends about what it would be like to have a day when girls couldn't wear clothes... little did I know the dream would come true. All you hard right goofballs need to take a vacation, I swear you won't give a fuck about statues after you've walked a mile in these shoes.

My father in law is so damn proud of his confederate flag. (Were ALL from the North). I tried talking him in to taking it off his damn truck. Now that hes down south hes gotten some shit for it from random black ppl. Thing is is sorta a symbol of alot of things.
