Thumb injury from training

big roid

I'm not sure what I did but my thumb is strained or something. I Hyperextended it very bad a few years ago. I guess it's from heavy weight on it. Anyone else ever had this happen to them?

I had it happen to me once when I was pushing some heavy boxes. It hyperextended and completely popped out of the joint, but it immediately popped back in. It was as good as new in a few days though.

Yes, but I had to change my grip to a thumb under grip instead of a thumb around grip. I had gotten use to this type of grip and when the thumb healed it was hard to go back to my regular grip with thumbs around, which I think is safer. Good luck on your recovery.

I hurt (strained) both thumbs over several months lifting (bench pressing mostly) several years ago. I think what happened is that I got stronger so quickly (not though AAS) that my tendons and/or ligaments couldn't keep up. I though WTF, no-one gets thumb injuries from lifting, so I continuted, assuming it was just a passing 'thing' and would get better.

It got bad very quickly, coupled with being used al the time in daily activities that, I had to take 18 months off, and still have issues benching now, 2 years later.

Not sure what to take from this (probably not the same thing), except perhaps to take the injury as seriously as something like a shoulder and make sure it is getting better and not worse if you continue lifting through it.

Well I have been on roids and I think it was from doing bench also. I got way stronger. Benching put a lot of pressure on the thumbs.
