Anyone turn wrench’s on a Subaru before?

I am a pretty good mechanic but I know their engine designs are way outta there. Thinking about picking up a legacy/outback with bad engine
They always did a flat four design with opposing cylinders to limit vibration. Not sure if they still do it. But the motors usually last.

Yeah they are still that horizontal shaft design where the pistons go out to the side.

I guess what I am wanting to know, are they harder to work on, or same shit just laid out differently?

Same concepts just laid out different. If you can get to the plugs the rest should be easy too.

Yeah I might pick it up. 500$ for car, and used heads are 200$

I want something awd that I can load up the family and dog and head out. These gravel/dirt roads are chewing up the Chrysler’s paint lol

The dog park was putting up another sign “warning iceman and dogs strictly prohibited” i’m surprised how serious they take that stuff

Actually funny you mention it. Was at a state park Sunday with the Doberman. We were up at the top of max patch and I see my dog act all weird.

Turns out, she kill a snake and was chewing on its damn head. This dog is amazing
