I haven't bought a scope in 15+ years, I'm not sure what the latest and greatest is
The budget really determines that. A basic 1-6x should be fine for a few hundred yards. I'm still using an old Nikon scope that has served me well. I use it to hunt. I don't do the Rambo sniper thing.

When I go shooting with some buddies, they usually wear their tactical pants and set up for 200 yard shots with their over decorated ARs. If we do hand guns, they always want to do 50 yard drill. I prefer to focus on drawing and firing from 2-7 yards.

My opinion but worth stating. Drawing from open or concealment is good. You want to crank shots into bulls or eyebox at close range. Burn them to the ground. Consider also some point shooting or just squaring the back of the slide for the first round...you can usually make an A zone hit and then find your sites on recoil.

Also practice 25 yard bulls on a B8. If you can draw and put 10 rounds scored at 90 or better in 10-12 secs at 25 yards, you are one solid pistol shot. Longer pistol shots are understanding capability of you and the gun and what you need to do to make solid hits at that range. Some occasional practice at longer distance is fine but if this is standard...I don't know anyone who knows what they are doing in a gun fighter role who does this on pistol.

Get a dummy/blue gun and draw against an attacker resisting you from a variety of positions including ground and vehicle. Hint, carry a knife weak side or better centerline. Don't assume a flat range mentality. No idea what your particular fight may look like but it's usually a shit show if you aren't the attacker/offense or ambush/murderer (and in defending yourself you won't be offensive at first without situational awareness and some luck - pay attention).

Hope that's helpful. It's not revolutionary but will keep you out of the asshat tacticool stuff. No advanced fights...solid execution of fundamentals under pressure. Practice.

Since you obviously have a vast knowledge of guns. Give me the best .308 for deer/whatever hunting. Something that’s a budget rifle. I know the scope is where most of the money is. I’ve seen rifles from $400-2k plus. Something for shooting anything less then 300 yards.

I’m not sure if you’ve gotten all of the info you were looking for but I’d like to throw my .02 cents in as well.

I am very partial to the model 700 bdm. Mostly because of their bulletproof (haha) design and durability as well as reliability. These weapons have stood the test of time through army snipers as well as police sniper teams. The reason I like the bdm as an option for a hunting rifle is that it allows you to load the magazine and leave it out of the rifle while traveling to your stand. Then you can easily load the magazine, chamber a round and your good to go. The round that I prefer for all of my hunting at any distance is the 7mm-mag. It is not such a large caliber that it will make a big mess at close ranges but large enough to have plenty of stopping power for almost any game animal you lower it on. The ballistics are great as well. I sight mine in at one inch high at a hundred yards and can pretty much hit anything I’ve aimed at out to 300 by aiming center mass. I mean you can adjust for distance if you want but it’s gonna be pretty close just by putting the crosshairs on the big part of your victim.

As far as scopes go, I really like the leupold scopes but feel that for the same money, you can get a good Nikon with superior clarity through the optics.

Poll time!

Customer orders. No name just address. I have tracking shows delivered. He says it was not. He wants to make another order (and pay for) but at under 200 min. Thoughts? @BigBaldBeardGuy and others please off opinions.
I’m like 5 pages behind so this may of been answered but I have had USPS say delivered and then the package arrive 3-4 days later.
I was super pissed too because it was a gold charm for my sister during Christmas.
But it ended up at my door the next week.

New to the thread. Anyone have any experience with SSRI's and cycling I just got prescribed paxil. I know everyone says not to take meds for anxiety but I'm tired of feeling anxious all of the time.
Your in for hell when it's time to get off the paxil, that was literally one of the worst weeks of my life. I've gone through opiate/benzo w/d multiple times and paxil was worse in a lot of ways. If your only using it for anxiety find a different solution.

Paxil FFUUUUCCKKED me up!! I just got crazier and crazier, more depressed, more anxious...and then I started drinking on it to cover up the pain I was feeling inside...bad bad move. I would black out and do random crazy shit and never remember. Paxil damn near ruined me. Then when I came off of it I had tremors, zaps, chills...the works. I wouldn't wish that drug on my worst enemy

I’ve been through Opiate withdrawals and never thought they were that bad but I’ve watched a couple people come off anti depressants and they were a complete mess. Pretty hard to watch people you care about just a mental ball of goo.
