Dude, I remember they had a shitty ATM inside this ghetto ass shady pay day advance store. Never saw any customers or workers behind the desk, just the BTC atm in the corner for 10% fees.
anyways I had $80 in BTC shoot to $100 and I decided to cash out (well more like I was strung OUT). With the fees I can't get a full $100 and since it only does $20s I have to settle for $80. I send the BTC and i hear the electronics of the BTM whirr up and it reminds me of a shitty vacuum cleaner or my mother's old coin sorting machines that would clog constantly. It just didn't have that German precision sound of a real ATM... and of course because of shitty mechanics it only spits out 3 $20 bills.
the people who own the business can't do shit to help you and the help line for the btc ATM company was a joke. I just accepted the loss.
TBH those machines are kinda ghetto. I notice the fees are always different. Last time one machine smoked me like 50% in fees.
Localbitcoin has tons of cash deposit options for banks, just none of the ones around me. I know TD bank and BoA have a lot of options if you're near. But if you can get your credit card to work for those companies salute, I just always had problems.
My first experience buying bitcoin, I drove an hour and a half one evening after work to the nearest BTC ATM. Had a pocket full of cash and my prepaid phone. So I go in this place and it’s rough as hell. Go through the prompts on the screen and think “man this is pretty easy” and tossed almost $400 into this thing without really thinking.
So I wait a few minutes and nothing is coming through. Walk to my car and start getting super anxious because I thought I’d tossed $400 on an incorrect BTC address about two hours from home lol
So it was like an hour later I’m in my car pissed off and I have to work early the next day. Phone goes off and notifies me my BTC was deposited in my account. I’ve never been so relieved in my life lol
