Training the wife

This is what the Vikings described Valhalla as Ozz! They said it was a place where brave and fearless men went to to see fine Latin woman who knew their way around the iron. Back then it was swords and shields while today it has changed to the barbell and squats. Keep up the good work and keep pushing her to get better and better.

Shit I got myself an Amazonian woman, shes started to get some lil traps and guns and she likes it. You should see her when shes got a pump, its fucking scary.
 
I started weight training with my wife as of yesterday. Heres a little background. As a typical female, she has only done cardio and machines, no free weights. We had a baby a little over two months ago, she gained about 20 extra pounds after the birth but she holds her weight well. Her diet is good, she had gestational diabetes so had to control her diet and has continued to do so. Her goals are to increase lbm, drop bf and work on her physique. She really likes ainsley rodriguez's body.

I discovered right away she has no strength at all and I have to teach her everything from the ground up and go extremely slow. Right now Im showing her the basics; form, which lift for each muscle. Yesterday we did legs. Tonight we did back and bis. Tomorrow I have no clue what to do with her.

Does anyone have any recommendations as far as a workout program from a beginner female? I was thinking of doing full body until she builds strength and gets better form (not hst). Focus on compound lifts for a solid base and transition into a more traditional routine. Sorry, but Im at a loss when it comes to training a woman and I know some of you have very fit wives. Spill the beans.

I've had mine doing full body circuit type training about 3-4 days a week, on my off days at my place as in not to distract from what I'm doing at the gym haha..where I have her do kettle bell work and bodyweight exercises, she's lost 20lbs in a little over a month doing so, of course she's been on a set number of calories per day as well. Started her off at 2 rounds of circuit training with the reps being relatively low and now have her going 5 rounds with higher reps with additional exercises afterwards, has been great watching her progress.

^^^^This. Start with very low intensity so she doesn't get sore and discouraged. Once she begins to see results, she will be hooked and will stay with the program.
 
I started my GF off with low reps, high intensity squats (after she learned the movement). She became addicted to getting stronger. After about 3 months, she did an A2G single with 225, completely raw (no belt). Awesome.

Since then I've switched her over to high reps, lower weight but added timed rest periods to keep intensity high. She likes to be challenged and show off.

Her squat workout now looks like this:

Week one:

Day one - 115lbs - 5x10, 2min rest
Day two - 115lbs - 5x10, 1.3min rest
Day three - 115lbs - 5x10, 1min rest
Day four - 115lbs - 5x10, 30sec rest

Week two:

Day one - 125lbs - 5x10, 2min rest
Day two - 125lbs - 5x10, 1.3min rest
Day three - 125lbs - 5x10, 1min rest
Day four - 125lbs - 5x10, 30sec rest

After every successful session with 30sec rest period, the weight bumps by 10lbs. If she fails to complete any sets or reps in two consecutive sessions, the weight is dropped by 10-15% and she starts over.

The rest of her workout consists of pullups -unassisted and assisted - some row variation, hip thrusts, and cardio.

Combining her intense workouts with a well managed diet has improved her life in so many ways. And she gets to show all the dbags what a REAL squat looks like.

She is doing 120lb lat pull downs
Curling 15s
Shoulder press 17.5
Squat 125lbs

The only down side is she does alot more cardio than me and can see the entire gym from her vantage point. In a week 2 ugly girls have approached me for small talk and my wife saw. Its extremely akward and I have no clue what to say because Im so off guard, then I get in trouble afterwards :( she decided to buy me a shirt that say "husband, father, protector, hero." My new nickname for her is warden.

It's good your wife wants to work out with you I would love to train with my wife but she is into the latest lose a stone in 2 weeks magic diets and walking every day :)

LOL! I feel your pain bro. My wife has zero interest in the gym and at this point I have to practically drag her out of the house for walks/hikes most of the time. If she hears about some new diet drug though, her eyes light up like a kid at Xmas. She's quickly turning into her mother. :(

My wife took before gym pics and yesterday she did a comparison between now and before starting. A little over 3 months and the results are amazing. She weights the same but can start to see muscles where there used to be fat, so she did a nice little recomp. She popped my son out 5 months ago only and is almost back to normal already.
 
Hope your girlfriends are doing well. I trained my girlfriend for 3 weeks and she aborted the training. LOL
I always go hard with girlfriends.. thats a tip to get rid quickly so that you can train best in gym.
