Transdermal Test and Estrogen Conversion

I posted this at SBI, but since all the crap, it's been dead over there.

My father in law is administering transdermal testosterone in a 'hairless area' of the body, as per the directions. Unfortunately, he's been applying it on his 'sides' and he has quite a bit of fat there. I hear that adipose tissue has more aromatase in it, so transdermal testosterone converts into estrogen at the spot it was applied. Is this true? Can someone pretty please point me to some medical publications or articles?

**It's worth noting that since he's been on TRT, he's gotten gyno, gained weight, and symptoms have become worse. I would like to provide medical publications or like articles to him as proof that this is a real possibility to what is causing his condition to get worse. He's got a PHD in Medicinal Chemistry. :)

It sure sounds as though he is getting a significant estrogen response. But that could happen, for him, anywhere he applies the gel. Some guys just do. he will have to try to find out.

He might like to apply it, as I recommend, over the upper arms and across the shoulders. He could then rub off what is left on the inside of his forearms. Be careful to not get it onto the antecubital fossa, though (where they draw blood from) as doing so will make the labs look like he is on a huge steroid cycle.

Are you serious Swale??? When I was on 150mg of gel from one of those "online test replacement places", I ALWAYS rubbed any extra on my forearms - and right on the antecubital fossa where they draw blood. In fact on the days I had my blood tests, I rubbed test gel right there just an hour or so beforehand!!!

You know, I was wondering if I should ask you about that when my first blood work should my test so high but I was afraid it was a really dumb question.

Nope. The little plug of skin, containing the absorbed gel, that goes up into that big bore can really jack the androgen levels up in the test tube.

The first time this happened I did scratch my head a while until I figured out what was going on.
