Trying to cut, old fashion vs keto

Hey folks, I'm trying to get down to at least 15% body fat. I weigh 215and have lots of muscle but I'd say I have around 20-25% bf right now. Should I stick to the old fashion protein,carb and fat macros with a calorie deficit? Or should I try ketosis, my buddy swears by it. And what would be a good macro for cutting the old fashion way.
 
It's really a matter of finding out what works best for you and your body man. The trick is to do what keeps you nice and sane while you're doing it. The best diet is the one that you can stick to consistently.

I prefer to cut carbs, but I dislike full ketosis. I'll usually start around a 700 cal deficit, and work up to around 1.5k as needed, and depending on how fast I feel the need to go. Off gear, I would probably keep a lower deficit, 5-1k at max.
 
Yeah keto will drop fat just as fast as normal macros. It's just with keto you lose a quick few pounds from water loss but that comes back at the end of the diet when you add carbs back and then you're left with a mind fuck thinking carbs make you fat.
 
totally up to what your body responds to man. I cut on 40/40/20 and it works wonders. If i try to do low carb for a bit I stall, get bloated, no energy, and look flat. trying keto worked about as good as 40/40/20 but I didn't see the point? I enjoy eating carbs. its all up to your individual body and finding what works best.
 
I used to always run keto diets for cuts all he time. The hardest part was making it a lifestyle change it a achievable diet. Usually 6-8 weeks in the diet would fall apart. I found intermittent fasting a better and sustainable diet for me. So at the end of the day Dballin is correct. You need to find what works best for you and what you can stick to so you can achieve your goals.
 
Assuming one can stick to it, my vote would go with Keto. For me, "life" makes keto a hard choice. So many food quick food choices are loaded with carbs.

In an attempt to get adequate protein I started drinking egg whites a few months ago. I have always hated the stuff. Was downing some today and lost it on the last gulp. I kept everything else down, but had to spit the last mouthful out. The stuff is disgusting, but it's effortless in preparation.
 
I mix my egg whites in a shake with spinach and vanilla protein powder. It actually taste not as bad as it looks.
