So about a year ago i had some pretty high ferritin, and iron from some inflammation issues, i was recommended turmeric, for the inflammation and milk thistle for some liver support, a few months of this and surprisingly my iron and ferrtin were substantially lower and my hematocrit/hemoglobin were great .
Never really thought of this untill I started doing some research on hemochromatosis etc and ways to lower your iron, and i came across a page, this was months ago now but it talked about how high dosages of turmeric combined with milk thistle work extremely well for lowering iron and ferrtin, right around the 1500-2000mg range for both.
What i found was that people were actually getting iron deficiency from taking these too long. Its said about 2 months is all you would wanna take this for at that dosage.
I haven't taken these for months
So now i notice my hematocrit/hemoglobin is climbing a bit pretty much top of the range, and iron and ferrtin are just a touch too high my np says so im going to go back on turmeric and milk thistle for a few more months and monitor my hematocrit/hemoglobin and see if it comes back down.
Basically how this works is turmeric/milk thistle help to unbind the iron and make it more usable.
Anyway just wanna share this and if others wanna jump on this and give it a try, then check back hear and let us no how you made out.
Never no might be a better way to manage then relying on donations?
