In Albany is where The great traitor Benedict Arnold is from. They have his house still in condition as a historical monument. Had he had his way America would still be Britains colony.
Also nearby, Whitehall NY birthplace of the United States Navy

Always been an option in my head. Think about going up 87/91/89, shit any one of the northern stretches and you're golden.

Both destinations I posted are peaceful, desolate even, depending on where you decide to visit. They have beautiful beaches, too... but most of the year you'd just want to admire them from a distance! I've done the "polar dip" challenges before. They fucking suck!
