Two US cycling teams hire drug-test expert Don Catlin

[SIZE=-1]The top two American professional cycling teams, the San Luis Obispo-based Team Columbia and Boulder, Colo.-based Team Garmin-Slipstream, announced today they had hired the Anti-Doping Sciences Institute run by ex-UCLA anti-doping expert Don Catlin to oversee the season-long drug testing of their riders.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=-1]Catlin is also in negotiations to oversee the drug-testing program of Lance Armstrong, though the details have not been finalized. The widely respected researcher said today that he preferred not to discuss any potential alliance with Armstrong [/SIZE]

[SIZE=-1]Last year Columbia and Garmin-Slipstream were pioneers in team drug testing after the sport had been plagued by three years of doping-caused scandal at its biggest races, most notably the Tour de France.[/SIZE]
