For all you guys that watched UFC last night, what happened? I didnt see it but always find it funny when Hogg or Grizzly says "yeah, I would have liked to have seen XXXX's brains splattered on the mat." lol

Looks like I get to do the commentary.

Mir/Sims was good and I'm glad Sims got KTFO....matter of fact, I liked the half dozen elbows that he took to the face as well. Mir had his shit together though he appeared to gas very bad.

Hughes and Penn....I'm not going to talk shit about Hughes because he is a great wrestler and fighter....however, he was very arrogant in the pre-fight interviews and I hope that, in the future, he becomes more humble.

Murray and the puerto rican laborer was a good fight though I would have liked to see Murray win on a KO rather than by submission.

Tito was getting a lot of publicity throughout the broadcast and quite frankly, I think the shit-talking is great....I'm hoping that he fights frequently and that he puts on a good show for the viewing audience....that is the reason we spend our money on PPV - to be entertained. I'll be looking forward to Liddell/Ortiz, and I'd like to see him fight the brit, and I'd like to see him fight Vitor ....did I miss anyone? Yes, and I'd like to see tito fight dan henderson....hell, actually, I just want to see all of those guys fight, it doesnt have to be tito, I just want to see a good fight.

Couture and belfort was truly a shock.....I think both contestants were very displeased with the outcome - especially vitor. Essentially what happened was, they started the first round, they centered up, vitor fired a shot that glanced across randy's face, they went to the clinch at the edge of the octagon, and randy was wincing, and rightfully so because when big john stepped in and they got a close up of his eye, the eyelid had been torn in the corner. Unfortunate and a bad way for a title fight to end but both will be back soon enough.

OVerall. I was very displeased with the UFC's production. There were 3 good fights that were not included in the PPV and instead, we were given a bunch of rhetoric by goldberg and rogan that was both redundant and poorly constructed, not to mention the shamrock/rogan assessment of the belfort/couture battle plan. Shamrock stepped on his tongue so bad he didnt even know which fighter he was suppose to be talking about....I dont like Rogan myself, I dont really like Goldberg, and I'd just assume not hear shamrock's opinion either. We pay $ 29.95 to see fights....not bullshit....not bruce buffer naming the 'stars' in attendance at the mandalay bay....I'm sorry but personally, I dont give a fuck what forrest whittaker has to say and I really dont care which NFL and NBA players are in attendance. I'm really sort of pissed off about the total lack of quality in the PPVs and am now considering waiting for the DVD's to come out. They are cheaper...and I dont have to listen to the redundant Goldberg/Rogan bullshit nor the same interviews 10x during the broadcast. Quite frankly, I think the japs put on a better show so its pride on PPV and UFC on disc for this kid. The UFC has been ripping off the PPV audience with these last 3 shitty productions.

That's my commentary.

I'm both pissed and completely disillusioned. We ordered the PPV, but soemthing was wrong with the cable in this area, so it never came on. Then, I find out that both Hughes and Couture lost. WTF is that? Do you know if Jeff Curran won, Hogg?

You're right that Hughes was being a bit arrogant. One of my training partners is from Hillsboro, so he rolls with Hughes whenever both of them are in town. He told us that Matt was being really cocky and he didn't know if he was taking the fight seriously enough. I know he was out getting drunk at 2:30 AM last Saturday because I was at the same bar he was after my fight.

BIG BUMP TO THIS HOGG.. Great fights but I'd rather see the 3 undercard fights in their entirety than watch all the bullshit.. I only got to see little clips of Karo getting beat and Serra winning... and they looked like good fights....Pride rarely skips a fight in the broadcast..

i haven't been impressed either with ufc's latest ... these days i like watching pride fighting more.

Serra beat Curran though the highlights flew by soo fast I didnt see much of it.

To top it all off, Mark Kerr lost his comeback fight. What a terrible weekend. Heath Herring must really be slacking in his training or soemthing, too, because Gan McGee went the distance. Herring is just about done. I think I'd take a fight with him now and even expect to win. Although, he's one slick mother fucker. I don't know how he does it, but he pulls out some crazy shit and escapes EVERYTHING.

did you notice that Kerr not only lost, but lost by knocking himself out while trying to take the jap down......talk about adding insult to injury. I'm sure he's probably pretty upset about taking himself out during his own comeback.

Yep. Those elite level wrestlers, I tell you. Him and uhhhh....what the hell is the name I'm trying to remember.....uhhh... You get the point. :(

Sorry to say this but.. MMA will never make it to mainstream i think.. after almost 10 years, i'm actually beginning to lose interest.

I don't understand why it's not in the mainstream. WWE has a HUGE chunk of the market and MMA is professional wrestling for real. I just don't get it.

good point grizz ... i just think that wwe fans, like and/or prefer a big show/entertainment type of atmosphere. where true warriors or the hardcore prefer true war/battle ... just my opinion though. i lie both personally ... i liked the ufc when it was an all out war ... no weight classes, less rules ... to be the ufc champ it was winner take all ... miss those days.

The fights are a lot better these days. Before the guys were fucking pathetic. I could have easily, and I mean EASILY, made the finals of the first 3 or 4 UFC's. It was fucking easy back then. Shamrock would have been tough, but that's about it.

i agree with that, the caliber of fighters are better now ... but didn't you like the format better before, less rules more no holds barred type of format?

Esco- I liked the downward elbows, knees to the head on the ground and the stomps/soccer kicks. Other than that, I don't really think anything is missing. I'm glad they started using gloves. I don't need to be breaking my hand. ONe broken hand equals a shortened career and a very painful shortened career at that. I have enough trouble with my wrists.
